Gilbert Arenas?

Post#1 » by Ronito » Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:34 pm

Umm...

CBS Sports' Ken Berger: Gilbert Arenas expected to attract some interest from the Nets. D-Will recently asked about him and expressed interest, source says.

ESPN's Marc Stein: So no cap-room teams chose to bid on Arenas and he's free to negotiate w/anyone. Told he hopes to land on same team that trades for Dwight

Thoughts?

Vet min, let's see how well he really wants to play with Dwight. That would hilarious if he does end up here along with Dwight and Hedo, by the way.

Hmmmm...uhhhh, I'd like to see his attitude with Avery Johnson and his teammates. Not just with Dwight and D-will.

Vet min is fine. His skills are useable but his "cancer-like" attitude is what scares me...

Only under a few conditions:

1) Dwight must have a strong desire to have him here.

2) He must be signed to a vet. min.

3) He must play backup PG.

4) He must play defense, because most bench players are effective as defenders.

If, only if, all conditions are met would he be an adequate signing.

Since Dwight and Arenas are good friends,he probally told him to sign with the Nets so they can reunite.I would sign him if I were you guys for the vet min. he was terrible last year, but he has dropped 20pounds this summer and is in better shape.Maybe he could thrive playing next to Dwill.

Dwight didn't want Orlando to amnesty him

I guess it's worth signing Arenas to appease Dwight. Assuming Arenas is on vet min, it should allow us to dump Farmar too.

After being traded from the Wiz and an amnestied, he has absolutely nothing to lose. Since D-Will (apparently) really likes Avery, I'm sure that if Gil doesn't listen to Avery, he won't be in good standing with D-Will and he'll be off the team just as quick as he was signed on.

Very good point! My interest in this has definitely increased.

EDIT: Just tweeted BK this:
@bkdefend Can we sign Arenas to vet.min. and dump Farmar for more cap space? :)

The only problem is with the amnesty rules, others teams can bid for his services, thus, offering the vet minimum might be a long shot...

No, he cleared those waivers so that means no team cap-room decided to sign him lol.

He's available to anyone now.

He's already passed that stage, though. No one put in a bid...

+Knowing Gilbert's ego, he probably would be insulted and thinks he's worth a contract as if he were playing in 2005

Unless he plans on changing his last name to WorldPeace

Dwight and Arenas have the same agent too.

And yea, Reggie Williams QO rescinded. Worth trying for if he can play SF.
