Plans D and E

Post#1 » by bkzmanny93 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:45 pm

ok so we all know we lost out on Nene. mixed feelings about him anyways. now that the Magic are not willing trade Dwight before the season what are our plans??

Seriously, plan a was clearly D12, b was Nene, C was Tyson. What we going to do?

Kris Humprhies for 1 year at 9 mil is uhh disappointing. honestly id rather get Carl Landry even though hes gonna be a multi year deal.

unfortunately we dont seem to be in the Reggie Williams sweepstakes. the last SF ive heard of is Josh Howard. i guess im ok with him if hes really cheap. i would also take RJ back. but idk how interested we are in that. and AK47 seems to be way too pricey and the Kings seem to be willing to pay near his asking price.

so yea guys what are we gonna do?? what do u think we should do now? and what have you heard of as our plans D and E?

....being that Dwight has not signed an extension, and regardless of the Magic saying they won't trade him, there's no reason to move on from plan A to begin with.

But, for all the pessimists out there, you amnesty Outlaw, offer a one year contract to Humphries, sign Arron Afflalo to an offer sheet, and sign Arenas to a vet min deal. Assuming all those are done to fruition, you're looking at this:

Williams/Arenas/Gaines
Afflalo/Arenas/Brooks
James/Graham
Humphries/Williams/Williams
Lopez/Petro/Williams

At the deadline, you look to package Farmar, Petro and Brooks for a protected first rounder and an expiring contract, opening up about 7 million in cap space in the summer. And, if Dwight is back on the market, you package Lopez, Morrow, and Humphries for Dwight and Hedo, and if they don't bite on it, then you wait until the summer.

What happens to Morrow in that rotation? It should Be Morrow/Afflalo/Brooks at SG. I think were not releasing Outlaw until we know if we will can sign Shawne or not. Or any other decent SF out there (RJ)
12-70. Never Forget. Moment of silence for all the fans lost during that battle.

Shawne is willing to do a 1 year deal, I don't see why there's even a thought of keeping Outlaw.

I would love to see us get Afflalo but i just dont see it happening. the nuggets covet him and they still have a lot of cap space so i cant see us overpaying him to get Nuggets away.

i cant see arenas signing with us either if Howards not here and i dont see why Billy and Avery would even consider him. but id take him on 2 if i were them.

i cant imagine anyone just taking on Petros contract and giving us a pick.

By that time, Petro's contract will basically be for free if you're packaging 3 million with him.

As for what happens to Morrow, he should be where Arenas is in that sg rotation, it was a mess up on my part. But...Afflalo would one thousand and one percent be in front of Morrow in the rotation, that's not even a question.

I'm down to sign arenas, howard, hump, rj to short term-deals and hopefully have a decent season but I don't want to commit to solid role players long-term (afflalo). we honestly do have a gaping whole at sf, anyone think we could get some one like rudy gay?

Plan A: Trade for Dwight December 14
Plan B: Trade for Dwight December 15
Plan C: Trade for Dwight December 16
Plan D: Trade for Dwight December 17
Plan E: Trade for Dwight December 18
Plan F: Trade for Dwight December 19
Plan G: Trade for Dwight December 20
Plan H: Trade for Dwight December 21
Plan I: Trade for Dwight December 22
Plan J: Trade for Dwight December 23
Plan K: Trade for Dwight December 24
Plan L: Trade for Dwight December 25
Plan M: Trade for Dwight December 26
Plan N: Trade for Dwight December 27
Plan O: Trade for Dwight December 28
Plan P: Trade for Dwight December 29
Plan Q: Trade for Dwight December 30
Plan R: Trade for Dwight December 31

Notice how I stopped on the 31st? Last day Dwight would have to be a Net if he wants his bird rights. If that doesn't work, well, it's back to the drawing board.

I wouldnt go after Affalo hoping we can make a trade later for cap space. Too risky. Affalo isnt worth taking a chance lke that. Love to have him but only if it means we still have the cap space for Dwight as a signing outright July 1st.

I would bring in Arenas if he will sign with us now, sign Hump to the one year deal and lets start the season. And if you sign those two I figure that should be right around 12 mil which means we can dump Outlaw now -7mil..so 5 mil increase to payroll. I believe someone said we are 5mil below minimum right now? Seems to work.

The only reason to kee him is if he gets us to league minimum without having to take on extra salary and then you Amnesty him over the summer instead. But if we are covered to minimum after doing signings we WANT to make...then get rid of him now. There is no scenario where that dude gains trade value.

Enetric cookie for you. I mean what's the point? After the 1st its out of our hands. Just sit tight and hope the phone rings.

Lets face it. Although risky and nerve racking to wait for July 1st to get Dwight....its the best thing for the organization if in fact IT DID work out that way.

I'm starting to that it'll work in our favor if the Magic don't trade him before the 31st. Let's say the Lakers cave after January 1st and send out both Gasol and Bynum for Howard. That team is gonna be depleted completely. The Lakers won't have the ability to sign him for more money than the Nets so he could easily just sign with us.

It's all about Dwight. Don't sell this squad short though. Is it a good team? No, but DW did have the Jazz on pace to win 50 games last year.

Brook is going to bounce back. Hopefully Morrow and Hump can log solid minutes again. Maybe BK can make a couple of good 1 year pickups and DJ/Brooks contribute.

I think this team makes the playoffs but that's just me.

I definitely think we could make the playoffs with this team in the East. I'm so happy we didn't sign nene, that would = mediocrity. If we don't get dwight and lopez improves, we could pick up someone like a John Henson in the mid - first round.
