Updated DeShawn Stevenson story. Nets still have about $9.5 million in cap space

NetsDaily NetsDaily.com
$2.5m interesting number for Stevenson. It's also the room exception which Nets can't use unless near cap.

The #Nets are signing DeShawn Stephenson and have waived Stephen Graham.

Graham's contract, worth about $1.1 M, would have become guaranteed Saturday. RT @Nets_PR: The Nets have waived Stephen Graham.

Nets Sign Stevenson, Waive Graham

What a fantastic signing for $2.5million on a 1year deal. He will be perfect for us during the season as our defensive stopper.

Also he will be a valuable chip in the Howard trade deal especially in a 3 or 4 team deal to a contender. Nothing to not like about this signing, now we're getting real depth with Morrow, Brooks, James, Williams and Stevenson playing the wings.

First time in ages our depth looks really solid

A trade could be coming up soon or close to the deadline. Therefore, we could be prepping some people for their next team lol.

I think the best part of this deal is that Graham is gone. Dude was atrocious.

We have a somewhat solid rotation now + decent pieces to trade in 3-4 team deal with our new signings. Now, if we could only dump petro and farmar...

With the new CBA it got a lot harder moving Petro. Before one would have thought that Trading Petro, a 2nd pick and 3 mil would have found some taker, but with the new rule, we just can't afford to send out 3 mil in a salary dump anymore.

Exactly we need to preserve that $3million for any potential Howard trade. Besides if Petro plays like he did in last night pre season game I have no problem keeping him as a back up big man, he was solid.

The reason this signing is so good is the fact he can back up both wing spots and is on a really good contract which is now another asset.

Billy King is doing everything I've wanted him to do, the man is gaining my trust more and more. I actually really fancy our team this year to cause some major upsets. We've got a more than solid team with good depth now with $10million still to spend on a 1 year deal.

They never played together in Utah, but DWill was in the Mavs locker room in Dallas through much of the playoffs and got a good feel for what DSteve was contributing in the Mavs' title run.
