I was waiting for an official Deron thread to start.
If Dwight got traded elsewhere before the deadline, we need to trade Deron because he for sure isn't resigning with us.

D-Will for Russell Westbrook and Eric Maynor plus fillers. Westbrook and Durant are too similar on the court and now apparently have issues with each other, and it would be a shame to watch NJ lose Williams for nothing after everything it gave up for him, if Howard goes elsewhere.

I was thinking the same thing after reading Westbrook / Durant tiff. I always had the feeling there was friction between the two .. Westbrook is clearly the better playoff performer, but gets nothing but blame, and Durant the love.

I'm trying to as objective as possible, but I don't see how Dwight isn't eventually a Net at this point. Did this board miss Buss' comments re: the Laker's trade talks with Orlando?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... rs+Blog%29Buss says explicitly that Bynum was offered, the Magic were receptive, and the talks dissolved because Dwight would not agree to sign an extension. That's BY FAR the clearest indication of Dwight's intentions that we've seen thus far and no one really talked about it. Dwight wants Deron, he wants Brooklyn. If the Magic can find a team willing to trade a high pick or a great prospect on renting Dwight for one season, good on them. If not, they'll eventually be forced to come to the table with us and move him for some combination of Brook, picks, and cap relief. And if Dwight already IS set on Brooklyn, that's a pretty generous offer considering we're basically only paying to play early.

Is it just me or does it seem like Deron is the reason this team has lost the last two games so badly? His shooting has been putrid and hes not creating easy shots for himself like we all know he can. On top of that he isnt making his teammates better. Now im not saying that he has the best supporting cast in the league, in fact it may be the worst. But that doesnt mean a player with Deron's abilities cant keep the team competitive every night. 2-12 tonight and we lost by 16. He makes 6 more of those shots and we have a ball game. If the game is close who knows what can happen. If Deron is making his shots then that leaves Morrow and Brooks open for better looks at the basket. Maybe all the warnings from the Jazz fans were right. Deron is not playing his best because he is in a crappy situation and not happy about it.

He's given everyone great open looks. They're just not making their jumpers, especially Morrow. At one point, Morrow was open, hesitated, and tried to shoot over two defenders.

I somewhat agree. I think Deron has been absolutely horrible by his standards, especially with his shooting and some of his shot selection. However, too many times, he provides great passes that are wasted. But still, he's had way too many turnovers that were entirely his own fault. He's not even playing average right now, he has been straight up garbage these past two games.

Things are kind of hard for him given that the opposing team doesn't need to guard anyone else...

Youre right, but Deron isnt making his shots either. As a top 3 point guard he should be able to get himself open or drive in the lane for easy buckets. It just doesnt seem like hes trying his hardest to get open. Its clear he has to do most of the work himself, but I just get a feeling watching him play that he doesnt want to. He has the skills to carry this team which is what its going to take to win ball games or at least keep them close.

Then I guess that makes Brook Lopez a top 10 player, for getting doubled/tripled every night.
Deron is a PG with great handling skills, decent speed and court vision. He should be able to deal with that kind of pressure better than he is doing now.

His jumpshot hasn't been the same after the wrist injury last season.
35% fg last season, if he doesn't improve that to 45% we're toast.

I hate him playing off the ball so much. Why is Avery trying to turn Deron into a spot up shooter? He needs to have the ball in his hands, it's his game.

Deron is also being forced to play SG for some reason. Way too much off-ball stuff. The whole point of having an elite PG is so that the offense runs through him, you put the ball in his hands 95% of the time. You don't convert him to a SG and have Gaines and Farmar play PG. That's nonsense.
Yeah, I wasn't down on Avery before this game, but this is ridiculous. At least he started using the pick and roll more though.
Give D-Will NBA talent (not D-league rejects), and let him actually play PG, and you should see his production go back to normal.

If Gaines is allowed to play PG over D-Will, Carlesimo should try head coaching instead of Avery.

Yeah, its a real head scratcher. And you'd think that with the way Deron is struggling with his shot that Avery would move away from having him off the ball, but it just doesn't seem like Avery wants to back down on this ill conceived plan. Let him get some rhythm by having him do what he's done his entire career, being the main ball handler.

Deron thrives on spacing. Needs a big who can P&R. BROOK LOPEZ COME BACK.

Man imagine if at dinner last night Dwight told Deron he changed his mind and didn't want to come to NJ anymore or wanted to stay with the Magic?
Or Dwight told Deron that Otis said he will not trade him period this year so Deron realized this year is going to be a complete wash?
So Deron was having a little internal temper tantrum and played like **** and/or said **** it, let's just tank it up this season?
Just another couple conspiracy theories to throw out there.
