DeMarcus Cousins

Post#1 » by Ronito » Mon Jan 2, 2012 2:06 am

DeMarcus Cousins wants out. Now, how do the Nets/Kings/Magic put together a three-way deal?

Billy King and Kings GM Geoff Petrie have done two trades before, the most recent in 2010.

February 23, 2005: Traded Matt Barnes, Michael Bradley and Chris Webber to the Philadelphia 76ers for Brian Skinner, Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson.

June 20, 2010: Traded Spencer Hawes and Andres Nocioni to the Philadelphia 76ers for Samuel Dalembert.

I have a feeling a trade is already in the works for DMC, obviously we don't know who. Kings told him to stay home for their home game tonight, so something must've been up trade wise already I'm guessing. I can't imagine the Magic wouldn't want a cheap, long-term big-man duo of DeMarcus Cousins and Brook Lopez going forward while dumping Terk in a trade for Dwight.

Just food for thought, and I figured this deserved its own thread with the potential of what could happen.

Brook Lopez and DeMarcus Cousins?

Say Whaaaaaat?

It would take Lopez to get Cousins.

That would be an interesting deal though, Lopez to Sacto.

Hope they don't like Bynum...

Asked Geoff Petrie if the Kings intend to trade Cousins. His answer: "No."Plans to meet with Cousins tomorrow.

Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof, when asked if ownership approved the move to send Cousins home, tells SI "Yeah, we back the coach."

I wouldn't trade Lopez for Cousins. Some people here like to make a big deal about Brook's reaction to calls, I can only imagine what they'd say if they had there way and the Nets traded for Cousins...

I don't know if I would trade Brook for Cousins or not.

If it was an 11th hour deadline deal and Dwight is going to become a FA it makes some serious sense though.

Clear that cap hold, send out Petro with him, etc...

Dump Farmar and maybe Morrow in a separate deal and then you have cap to sign Dwight to max, throw a huge deal at a SF like Gallo or Batum and still have Cousins on rookie deal.

6'11 head case that shot 48% TS last season and 40% so far this season.

No, just no.

Lopez would be a more logical fit in a Westphal offense, and Otis Smith seems to want more of a banger like DMC, even though that move would take them further from contention than just trading for Brook. Maybe a 3-way possibility, IF Cousins isn't trading by morning...

I always wanted Cousins since draft day...Hated when we took that other kid forget his name. Cousins has one problem weight. He has all the skills. We already know what Brook is. So I'd try to dump Petro and a 2nd for him and see if they go for it. If I give the Brook that would have to mean Howard passed the deadline to be traded.

PG Deron
SG Brooks
SF Wallace
PF Cousins
C Howard

not a bad starting five.

A second as in second round draft pick? Ya, I don't think that's going to fly.

Also, I don't care if we get Cousins or not. I do think he'd be a great asset to have and sending him + Lopez + draft pick should be more than enough.

Are you people nuts?!?

People are talking about trading Lopez and picks for Cousins?!?!

Hold on a minute here, Lopez is a stud wheather we accept it or not, he will be a top centre, he's not going anywhere unless for Howard.

HOWEVER.... The kings have been idiots about how this has been handled. Due to the fact they made all this public they have effectively ruined his trade value. Now people are going to lowball the heck out of them. Obviously we can't give up any real asset we have that would effect the chase for Dwight Howard. But I was thinking, what about giving up something like the houston 1st and any player outside of D Will, Brooks, Lopez and maybe Morrow.

I think as much as a nutcase Cousins is, he is one of if not the top young centre in the league. If we could bring him in, as risky as it is, you've got to think he would be a top centre with Williams (obviously if Avery pulls his head out of his ass and plays Williams PG).

Would leave us coming up to deadline if we sent out Morrow & Houston 1st with:

D Will / Gaines / Famar
Brooks / Stevenson
James / Shawne Williams
Cousins / Hump / Sheldon Williams / Horner / J Williams
Lopez / Okur / Petro

I just think Cousins could be a complete beast if we got him in along with Williams and therefore would send his trade value sky high. You could flip him to a 3rd team for nice pieces to send to Orlando in a trade. Just has ridiculous talent that even though would be a risk spending the houston 1st, in reality that isn't worth very much because at best its the 15th pick and thats at the very best. Cousins is worth more than the Houston pick in my eyes so I'd look to do a deal by just giving a low offer, if it doesn't fly then move on.

Risk reward player in a big big way but his value has been ruined by the fact the whole "trade me" thing has been released to the public.

PS In all reality the Rockets, Wizards and Timberwolves should and will go hard for the kid and i can see one of them getting him. Houston need a centre, Wizards can reunit Wall/Cousins and Timberwolves have to many PF's and need a centre.

@ NI Nets

It's funny how you start off your post angry ( :curse: ) and then you're happy and mellowed out by the end ( :) ) lol.

DMC overreacts for everything so I'm sure that this will all blow over soon and he'll go back to playing with the team.

In the event that that doesn't happen, Petro and a 2nd round pick isn't nowhere near enough to get him. They'd probably only accept a top-10 lottery pick from this year for him considering that he was drafted top 5. I can very well see them playing this card and yet if no one reaches their demands, he'll just stay with them.

There never getting a top 10 lotto pick in this draft for a disgruntled want a way rookie cancer contract.

The fact they've said they've suspended him leads me to believe they just want him gone fast.

The kings have ruined Cousins value and after revealing he has been wanted out and causing problems for quite a while means he has to go.

They're suspending him for disciplinary reasons in the hopes that it will bring him back to reality. I'm pretty sure that they really want his talent to outweigh his attitude since he was a top 5 pick. They're not rushing to trade him unless they get a stellar deal.
