Hope you guys get Dwight/keep Marshon

Marshon's slowly becoming one of my favorite players due to his smooth game. Is there any way to keep him in case you guys trade for Howard? DWill, Howard, Brooks is a pretty damn good triple threat.

With the possibility that Marshon does get traded to Orlando or some crappy team due to a three team deal with Orlando... I hope it's a team that won't ruin his potential.

You really think that Brooks is a proper compliment to Dwight and Deron?

Brooks is not a strong spot up shooter. Morrow is a better fit with the pick and roll based offense.

My question is, do you really live next door to the Durantula?

The scenario I would love if we indeed have to trade for Dwight but get to keep MarShon and some of our picks is to immediately follow that up with a move like MarShon and those picks and salary filler for a guy like Granger or Batum or Iggy, maybe even Wilson Chandler or Gerald Wallace.

I think the iggy deal would make most sense because I dont see Wallace as producing at a high level for much longer, Portland wouldnt trade Batum and Granger is up and down a hell of alot.

At least your sure Iggy will bring the top tier defence and would thrive as a 3rd option (which I think is his perfect roll tbh)

But would Thorn really allow the Nets to form their own big 3 by trading with a division rival?

With the system and defense Collins runs, I don't think the coach would be too keen on losing his best defensive player. If Kidd-Gilchrist was coming out and we gave them a shot to get him, then maybe, but if he's staying in school I don't see anyone replacing Iggy's defensive prowess.

I understand Iggy is an elite defender and I understand he's a decent player, but he's just not that good and is certainly not part of a Big 3.

I wouldn't mind him if we had suspect assets like MarShon, the Rockets pick that likely isn't looking like a 2012 pick at this point and then maybe a future 1st with lotto protection combined with salary which would pretty much have to be something like Farmar, Petro and Shawne, maybe Morrow.

That would be a steal, although I honestly don't think far off his top value, in fact it would be his value if the salary was expiring instead IMHO.
Basically a touch more then what Crash brought back last deadline.

But that doesn't mean I confuse Iggy with a star or a 3rd option, cause he's not.
He's an elite role player and a 4th option in reality, just he's paid like a top of the league 2nd to lower end 1st option.

I know I shouldn't, but I consider a "Big 3" by name and reputation moreso than just star-level players. That's not to say I think every team has a "Big 3" or that there are many in the league, but considering Iggy's defensive acumen and reputation around the league I would lump him in with Dwight and Deron.

I think it has something to do with growing up in Dallas, and hearing everyone calling Nash/Dirk/Michael Finley the 'Big 3'. I guess the notion just stuck

Meh, I think you're underrating Iggy, don't think of him as a complement to Deron and Dwight, think of him as a stand alone player...he's not scoring much now, but from 08-10, he was at 19/6/5, less than 3 TOpg, 55% TS. Add to that elite defense. That's a damn fine player, and I would say a legit 2nd/3rd tier star.

Offensively, he doesn't mesh that great with Deron and Dwight, because he plays more on-ball to be as productive as possible, and that wouldn't happen with Deron. But his off-ball game isn't bad, it's decent. And again, that defense is extremely valuable. Remember, if we get Deron and Dwight, we want to compete with the Heat, the Thunder, and the Bulls...who better than Iguodala to put on LeBron/Wade/Rose/Durant? We need a guy like that if we want to contend, imo.

I want to say more, but I g2g, I'll be back later.

Where are you getting your numbers from? Cause they're not right...

And it's as a 1st option anyway, he's not doing that here as a 3rd option in all likelihood.

I'm not underrating Iggy, he's just a player a lot of people overrate for no reason.

He's a good player, but he's a utility guy.

I have no problem with him if he comes for table scraps as an after move though.

I'd rather go after Granger i think he's the better fit playing with the double D's.

Yes.

If all we have left is MarShon, Morrow, Houston 1st and our one or two of our future 1sts that is the #1 guy I go after that might be attainable for that package.

He was actually right. 18.6ppg/5.86rpg/5.3apg.

Yeah, but I'd rather have Paul George than Iggy strictly because of the upside and his ability to hit shots. I don't think George has the fire/hunger to become a superstud, but I think he can definitely grow into a nice 3rd option scorer/slasher/defender that fills some of our gaps for years to come.

I'd rather have PG as well, but i just don't see the Pacers moving him.But i do think Granger could be a realistic option and I'd rather go after him than Iggy.

^^I know.

If I had to rank who I'd want (out of the guys that we've mentioned as players we could get):

1) J-Smoove (for defensive/rebounding/athletic purposes)
2) P.George (young player that has defensive and offensive toold; can bud into 3rd option star)
3) Granger (better contract than Iggy and, I believe, we'd revive his career)
4) Iggy (contract is markedly larger than what he's actually worth, he lacks the offensive power, poor FT shooter)

Btw, a not-so-fun fact: Iggy is shooting 60% from FT line this year! :o

If Dwight came here, he'd be bad enough. Don't need him and Iggy choking us out of the playoffs every season at the foul line.
