Countdown To March 15: Brace Yourselves

I figured we could use a thread that isn't our own hypothetical trades (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1152931), but for rumors from around the league. And it probably would be better to put it all in one thread rather than creating a thread for every trade/major rumor that isn't pertaining to the Nets directly.

Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA: The NBA's trade deadline is Thursday. Now is when discussions will pick up and rumors will surface. This next week should be fun.

I'll start this off with this...

Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA:
Andrew Bogut trade rumors have legs. The Milwaukee Bucks are taking calls. Nothing is imminent, but I won't be surprised if Bogut is moved.

Gasol will likely get moved: If the warriors rumors are true, he could go to GS Ellis and Bynum go to ORL
Lakers wind up with
D12
Lee
Artest/Turk
Kobe
Blake??

As for Bogut, I can't see a contender THIS SEASON making a move for him. A team like the Hornets would be immensely wise to take Bogut. Okafor for Bogut is even salary-wise and would make sense of Okafor COULD play (knee issues.)

Teams that would like Bogut, as in before the deadline, would be teams that don't really care about this season, like Sacramento, Washington, Golden State (imagine if they go into next year with towers of Gasol and Bogut??)

Stephen Jackson is a guy who NEEDS to be traded. His contract is large, making him tough to deal one way or another. He is a guy that, if Dwight is not traded, SHOULD be targeted by the Magic.

Utah really should make a push for Josh Smith, but I don't think the Hawks care to trade away Smith unless they are given an offer they cannot refuse (which could happen from the Nets if Dwight is moved to a location he might stay)

Shocked no one really has said anything here. There are so many juicy pieces on the market.

My favorite deal that I would like to see happen would be something like Wilson Chandler and Koufos for Josh Smith

Awesome if followed by Nene and Harrington for Gasol and McRoberts

Denver would be the most exciting team
Gasol
Smith
Gallo
Afflalo
Ty
Andre Miller, Chris Anderon, Faried, Brewer, etc

Chandler and his agent are in Denver. He's going to sit out the year if they don't get a long-term agreement, will be a RFA at season's end.

Being in denver does not rule out the possibility of a sign and trade though. Denver could see it as a chance to improve their team. Particularly if Wilson wants 9+ mil and Denver has him worth 7 mil

Actually it does, deadline for a S&T passed weeks ago.

I have no idea why Milwaukee would swap Bogut for Okafor either.

I'm calling it here now... LaMarcus Aldridge is dealt by the deadline.

Not sure to where, but he's dealt and for a huge package.

I can't see Aldridge being dealt. The Blazers understands how underrated this guy is. I can only see him being traded if the Blazers are getting an obvious steal.

The only place LMA is underrated is on RealTrollM.

IRL, he holds immense value and respect league wide, I would guarantee that.

Naw, McMillan would have to be fired first before LMA goes anywhere. LMA wouldn't be traded until the offseason.

I know some of their fans might want to tank but I don't think they management will allow them to do it yet, especially since they didn't expect to be this bad.

It could very well make sense to blow it up, but I think they'll wait til the offseason to do so.

Yeah it would definitely be smarter for them to do it in the offseason (and especially on draft night). But perhaps a team will offer a really good package for him, who know. Right now I think I'd lean towards no deal.

Why exactly is it smarter for them to wait until the offseason?

They're the 10 seed in the West right now and below .500 and the main guy in their front office has already said they understand they aren't a team that can win a title this year so they aren't going to make any rash quick fix bad salary moves, but the moves they make at this deadline will be for the long term and the future so they can make deep playoff runs for multiple years.

I don't think LMA is being actively shopped, but I feel like some team is going to blow them away with an offer they almost can't turn down.

I don't think they're going to make any rash quick decision period. They understand that this season is lost, but I really doubt they're going to throw the baby out with the bath water already and just trade away their franchise player.

He's not on the level of LBJ/Durant/Wade, but he's still their franchise player. No one is quick to give away their guy unless they receive an offer that blows them away.

As with the Dwight situation, there is a lot of emotion and personal attachment to the franchise player. It's not easy to let them go asap. Most team take their time just to double and triple check that the star doesn't want back in.

You might see Batum go, but I doublt LMA goes anywhere unless it's in a major multi-deal trade.

I don't know why you guys are debating whether LMA will be traded or not. VC4P is trying to make a bold prediction by guessing LMA is this year's DWill.

LMA would be a smart trade, but to who for what? only teams that would be buyers would be Bucks, Warriors, Pistons/Wizards (they could offer an unprotected pick)

I guess my issue with a LMA trade is the idea is to tank afterwards, so Jsmith, Pau etc is not plausable, if you trade him for the Pau package (Scola/Kmart) you don't really gain much upside, marginal gain i suppose... Chances are you want good picks and cap flex. The Nets would be a great buyer (Humphries + picks) but won't make a move since they are in breath-holding mode for D12. If the Nets wanted to be a scary team, they could make pitches for both Bogut and LMA, add him to Deron and Morrow and BAMMM Emeril style -- a team is born... for next season.

Bold prediction: no one gets traded.

Seriously. Not a single trade is going to happen.

Five minutes after I post this, I'm sure I'm going to see a Woj twitter saying the Rockets and the Lakers have agreed to a deal.

It's beginning...

@MisterRudolph: League sources have told me a Dwight Howard trade is not coming. Magic on the verge of blockbuster deal.

Andrew Bogut ‏ @AndrewMBogut 30 minutes ago: Rumors are not news; but they sometimes foreshadow news. ERNEST HAMLIN ABBOTT Sep. 15, 1915

7 minutes ago: Wow!!! I just received the best news!

Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
now
RT @MP2474: @arrod Ruldolph of said sources say no D12 trade, Magic on verge of a blockbuster deal.. <-- He is a smart man.

If Bogut goes to GSW for the package they were giving the Lakers, and Ellis goes to Orlando, with the Magic taking on one of the bad contracts of the Bucks, I could see it.

Bogut replies to @EyeOnBasketball Report: @AndrewMBogut retracts soup trade demand, will stick with standard Panera soup. Applebees crushed. bit.ly/xjijup with "they didn't have enough assets at Applebees. Panera made us an offer we couldn't refuse."

Well played.

I don't think GSW would even have to trade Lee.

Just Monta for Bogut should work.
