This means Mike Woodson will be interim coach, right?

haha everyone knows they are a sinking ship right now, cant believe he resigned.
People still think that the Knicks will deal Melo and Chandler for Howard and yet this is the guy they choose instead of the head coach.
Melo won the battle of the MSG, they arent about to trade him

This is definitely one of those resign or be fired kinda things.. I think its actually a good move for them. His style doesn't fit the roster and you can't win without D.

I'm pretty sure their defense is ranked 9th in the league and their offense in the early 20's, so there's that little fun fact if I'm remembering correctly...

Don't know why everyone keeps hating on the defense, that hasn't been the problem. Everyone assumes it is, because it's the Knicks and MDA is the coach, but they're still ranked a top 10 defense this year, and were top 5 before Melo came back (says a lot about Melo). The problem is that they can't score, which nobody in the media either realizes or is willing to admit, because it's the complete opposite of what they expected.
They're 23rd in the league offensively, worse than us! That's the problem, because like I said, they're top 10 in defense this year. MDA is an overrated coach, if he knew how to run an offense (another misconception: MDA is an offensive genius), the Knicks would be doing well. His idea of an offense was to give the ball to the PG, have him make all the decisions, but do it really fast, and have everyone chuck up 3s. Without a halfway decent PG, MDA is clueless, despite having two of the better scorers in the league, a pretty stacked bench, and a solid PG in Jeremy Lin (no superstar, but he's solid).
Anyway, I'm basically trying to say that MDA should have left from a team standpoint, but they should also bring in someone that knows what they're doing offensively, not necessarily defensively, because Mike Woodson seems to be doing his job well.

^^I think that's an overly simplistic view of what was going on. Look at what the Knicks did before Melo came and look at how they were performing when he was out.
Their offense was running fluidly within D'Antoni's system. The problem is that when Amare came back, he wasn't hitting his jumper, and then when Melo came back, he forced his isolations and was the complete antithesis of what D'Antoni's system needs: Versatile, jumpshooting players that move without the ball.
This isn't all D'Antoni's fault.
The only reason why I think things will go better with Woodson will be because he'll slow things down and run more of a halfcourt offense.
With Woodson, Melo and Amare should get their numbers, but I really doubt that Lin will be able to put up the stats that he was putting up before. The defense might bebetter but offensively, I don't think you'll see Tyson as involved as he used to be.
Whenever a headcoach re-signs by mutual consent, that's almost never a good sign. Players were being disobedient and that's never a good thing.

This is probably the best thing happened to the Knicks. That guy is such an overrated coach. He should be coaching teams like the Warriors instead.

Absolutely agreed. You don't understand how happy I am. Woodson isn't even that great of a head coach(Well come postseason time) but he's like a basketball bible compared to D'Phoney.
D'Antoni brought nothing but a one trick pony system. He never held players accountable, played buddy system and never taught any true fundamentals in NY.

I'd still rather be in the Nets position. Enjoy your ban, by the way.

This is a knicks thread on the nets board I'm allowed to post in it. You guys were trolling the knicks hardcore two nights ago as my quotes show.
