D-Will Wants Anthony Davis?

Kentucky’s Anthony Davis is the hands down, no-doubt about it, it’s not going to be anyone else No. 1 pick in the June NBA Draft.

Nets star Deron Williams is a fan. He saw Davis up close last summer at a camp he ran with the Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire.

“So I got a chance to see him a lot. He’s pretty good,” Williams said, adding he could very easily adapt to having the young Wildcats star in the fold next season. “I guess so, yeah. I’m sure I could. If we get the No. 1 pick.”

Whoever gets Davis, assuming the freshman leaves Kentucky, the announcement will be made at Prudential Center in Newark. The NBA announced The Rock will be the site of the NBA Draft on June 28 for the second straight year.

No way we get into the top 3 worst records. We have like a 4 game lead on the 3rd worst record. Just get into the top 3 so we can trade it for J-Smooth.

Even if we don't have one of the 3 worst records, there is a still a chance that we get it. We deserve it after all of the crap that has happened to us!

With our luck, our pick will be the 4th, which means adios.

Guys, understand that we are talking about a draft LOTTERY. This isn't the NFL; just because we won't have a bottom-3 record in the league doesn't mean we can't get a top-3 pick.

The Nets will almost assuredly have one of the 6 worst records by the end of the season, which gives us a decent chance to crack the top 3. If it helps the D-Will recruitment, I'm all for it. I'm glad to hear Deron's comments, it sounds like he's at least open to the possibility of keeping Davis. Unibrow will be an immediate impact player IMO, maybe an 8/8/1/1/2 guy or better in his rookie season. A Williams-Davis-Lopez core, WITH a ton a capspace and solid role-players, is a promising core.

The percentages for a top 3 pick are listed on wikipedia for the final standings, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Draft_Lottery

If we finish with the fourth worst record which seems the most likley, we will have a 37.8% chance of getting a top 3 pick. We will have a 29.2% chance if we finish fifth, a 21.5% chance if we finish sixth, and a 15% chance if we finish seventh. If we really suck, we can beat out Sacramento and Toronto for the third worst record for a 46.9% chance at a top 3 pick. So no matter what, the odds are against us keeping our draft pick because we aren't going to finish with the 1st or 2nd worst record.

All of this would have been irrelevant if that pick was even top 5 protected instead of top 3...

also guys the wizards are a much better team now than they were pre-trade deadline so its possible they could catch us... and i think they are more committed to having a young team learn how to win than tanking for a top 3 pick as opposed to a top 5 pick

Yep, if it was Top 5 protected, our chances of keeping our pick if we finished with the fourth worst record would be 82.8% and if we finished with the fifth worst record would be 55.3%, and with the sixth worst record it would be 21.5%. We'd have a 96% chance of keeping our pick if we finished with the third worst record. Billy probably thought we'd end up with a sixth worst or better record so the probability of getting a 4th or 5th is 0% at that point, so make it Top 3 protected as we'd need a huge amount of luck to get a top 3 pick anyway, and anyone after the Top 5 he didn't like better than Gerald Wallace.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

You know what would piss me off though? If the Wiz start winning and Stern gifts them with the 1st overall pick anyway.

The lottery is not rigged... it's just... a lottery...

Yeah, the whole Lottery is rigged argument annoys me.

If we get the #1 pick, ohhh Stern gave Davis to Brooklyn.
If Hornets get #1 pick, ohhh Stern rigged it so that 'his' team gets Davis.
If Bobcats get the #1 pick, ohhh Stern gave David to Charlotte to save that floundering franchise.

And so on... it's annoying.

He did do it for John Wall.

eh, think its just a bit odd.

Hornets and Nets are rig candidates. If any other team wins ill say no rig.

Clearly if nets get a top 3 pick and Gerald Wallace has his option picked up, there could be a draft day blockbuster...

Bobcats will wind up with either Drummand or MKG.
