Farewell Nets...
It wasnt easy, but I have officially made my decision not to follow this franchise to Brooklyn. I just cant do it. It was fun talking, mostly arguing, with all of you but I am making the switch to Philly. Believe me this was not easy, I was at the game yesterday and guarantee I was the craziest. If you saw a psycho with face paint and a red mini afro, that was me. If New Jersey ever gets a team in the future, count on me being on board, until then, it was nice knowing you.

I hate New York and that includes all of the boroughs. I am already an Eagles fan and while I dont follow the MLS extensively, I like the Philadlephia Union. Because of my hatred of NY that makes Philly the closest home team for me. I will always love the New Jersey Nets, but not the Brooklyn Nets...

Re: Farewell Nets...
I'm sorry man, but not following the team like literally 12 miles to me is silly.
I have some of the most enormous state pride you could find. I love this dumpster fire of a state and rep it everywhere I go and it hurts to see the Nets leave, but I mean really?
And OK, I could understand if you were going to say **** the Nets, **** the NBA and stop following basketball completely or just become a league fan without a tie to any one team, or even bandwagon a team like OKC or a team on the come up like Cleveland, but to switch to the Sixers? That just seems crazy fake to me.
Sorry to be a dick, but honestly I'm not even sorry. I think this **** screams of cornball and fakeness.
I mean the ****ing Sixers? Where could that even come from?
Come on dog.
Eh, maybe you're from South Jersey. But then the question that begs to be asked is were you a Sixers fan that just bandwagoned the Nets through the Kidd and then VC era?
And if that's the case you not only were a bandwagoner, but you dumped the Sixers like a bad habit as well when they were becoming mediocre.
IDK man, this irks me a little something something. To each there own though.
BTW though, did see you on the jumbotron a number of times and thought it was pretty cool to go that over the top, now it means almost nothing.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

How does one dislike NY yet like/root for Philly? Philadelphia is home to some of the biggest douchebag sports fans you'll ever see in your life.
Whatever, wish you the best.

Is there a reason why you hate NY specifically?
Philly has a lot of things NYC has. I don't see why the hate for NY specifically.
I know a ton of people in South Jersey who like the Sixers and Flyers over the Nets and Devils because they're closer to Philly than East Rutherford/Newark and they want to be tied to a city, but they've always liked them.
Were you always neutral to the Sixers or did you ever dislike them?

You have to understand, let alone this type of **** annoys me a little, this dude has a history over the last few years to come on here and question our fanhood and to tell us we're not real fans of the Nets like he was and to brag on about how he was the bestest Nets fan in the whole wide world...
Yeah, he's that guy.

Re: Farewell Nets...
Alright, go back and find any time where I questioned anyone about their fanhood to the Nets. All I ever did was defend myself when I was called out for whatever reason. I followed this team since the early 90s when they had Kenny Anderson and DC. No Im not from south jersey either, I decided to roll with Philly because I like the city and have been an Eagles fan just as long as the Nets. I was thinking about not supporting any team and just watching for the pure joy of the sport, but that would take away from my natural tendency to build rivalries with people, on a friendly level. Theres just something about New York and the people there that rubs me the wrong way and I refuse to support any sports franchises that are there. I dont expect anyone to take this with open arms because again it wasnt easy for me either. If I had any other explanation for why I hate New York I would tell everybody but its just the way I was born, like its in my genes. Disagree, insult me, question me, it doesnt matter. I enjoyed my time here discussing basketball with you guys.

Re: Farewell Nets...
Eh, I have one friend that hates New York and all New Yorkers like no other, I don't really understand it even if I understand the case he tries making, cause when it comes down to it, although we're quite different in many ways, North Jerseyans are cut from the same intelligent, yet arrogant holier then thou butthole clothe as New Yorkers. If anything the main difference is we don't have that sense of entitlement most New Yorkers seem to have.
Respect for taking that well. Although you and I personally disagreed and had a couple arguments I never disliked you or anything, you just tended to rub me the wrong way at times with the self righteous fan stuff. I'm sure I rubbed you the wrong way at times with my over the top dickish nature.
Still can't respect the whole Sixers thing out of the blue and I say that as a fellow Eagles fan.
In all honesty, I don't know if I could respect anyone bidding adieu for another team at this point simply over the move to Brooklyn. But it's not like you should care what I respect anyway, just couldn't let this go without saying something/going off a little.

I could understand the displeasure if the team sold out every game while in Jersey... but at this point NO once can argue the move to Brooklyn. The Nets couldn't sell out the Arena even when they were the best team in the East. When they do sell out it's because opposing teams fill up the arena, why the hell should they stay there? At least they kept the Nets name and history. I don't understand why someone would be upset over what will only bring good things to their favorite team. And the whole "I hate new yorkers" argument is weak. If I looked at it that way I wouldn't be a die hard yankees fan since I find other yankees fans to be obnoxiously loud and annoying. But to each his own. I for one have been counting down the days for this team's move to Brooklyn.

I'm bouncing the second Las Vegas gets a team, they change the name from the Nets, or in the unlikely event that New Jersey gets a new team. Tis simple, and I always said that, so don't go haranguing me now.

Re: Farewell Nets...
FIRST OF ALL, we need to be talking about the awesomeness of jeff1624's av!
Next, vc4p is right, at least on one account: as a Georgia boy who has lived in Kansas most of his life, I see NJ and NY as too similar to distinguish.
Lastly, R, nice knowing you. As a card-carrying Kidd bandwagoneer, I can't fault you for team-skipping. I'll just say that something about the Nets "stuck" with me, and I don't think I'll ever stop cheering for this franchise.

There is definitely a sense of loss in New Jersey...as a Jersey native sports fan, nothing will ever fill the void in New Jersey for me as the Nets did...With that said, this Nets fan will now wear the Brooklyn colors just the same as he wore the New Jersey Nets colors...with PRIDE!

Re: Farewell Nets...
NYC is one of the best cities in the world...sure the people there can be arrogant dicks, but it's like that in any other city, Philly included. In fact, a ton of people I know from the Philly/South Jersey area are huge tools and are worse than any New Yorker I've met. They're the people that will go around acting like NY sucks and Philly is the best, but then they go around acting like New Yorkers to try and seem cool and are in NYC any chance they get. Just annoying as hell.
But I've hated Philly fans ever since they copped an annoying as hell attitude when my Yanks played them in the WS in 09, so I'm biased...and I'm saying this as an Eagles fan, lol.
