I need Nets fans to talk me off the ledge!

I know a majority of you guys on here are long time loyal Nets fans so maybe you can help me see the light. A little about me: Being a New Yorker, I was a diehard and loyal Knicks fan most of my life. Just watching horrible front office moves and bad play made me look other places for a new team...during the 09' season I started noticing this young athletic team with great promise that was losing to everybody else In the league...but beating the Knicks! The future looked pretty bright with TWill, CDR, and Brook Lopez. They had the best odds to get the #1 draft pick John Wall...and good odds to sign Lebron James along with another max cat. Add that up with the move to Brooklyn which was only 10 minutes from my job...and I am all In!

So I emotionally invested In the team! Watching every game and even going to see them In person. Had a good young front court of Lopez & Favors along with significant cap space. So obviously I got clowned, laughed at, ridiculed, etc.. About my decision but I stuck by it. I wasn't crazy about the DWill trade without a firm commitment that he was here long term...but I rolled with it. I wasn't to crazy about the D12 trade rumors but thought it would be a good look for the Franchise. Then the Gerald Wallace trade happened:-( I remember almost having a nervous break down reading that Billy King just traded OUR 1st round pick! NOT HOUSTON'S PICK! But our pick Top 3 protected!

So now things are looking very grim and I don't know if I should just abandon this team for the same reasons I left the Knicks! Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Assume the worst case scenario of losing DWill & Wallace this offseason. What now? What do I root for? Please help

Just jump, that gets people off the ledge much quicker than it would be turn around and climb back in through the window.

Not hating on the Nets (I'm from Bklyn, I wish them well), but in my opinion, you need to look at yourself, not the teams you want to cheer for. If you're seriousl about loving the Nets then you should hang in there....thats part of becoming a diehard fan....to be there through the good and the bad, not just when its conveinent. I believe those who are loving the Bklyn Nets right now as their very first basketball team is lucky and in years to come, may prove to be very proud of their franchise while those who have always been a diehard Nets fan may be blessed and their often losing past changed with new hope and respect with a great arena, front office and team and becoming a perenial playoff team for years to come an renewing a rivalry with the Knicks.

I understand your frustration with the Knicks, I still remain frustrated as we speak but for some reason when you truly love something, you try to hang in there as long as you can. You already found it in your heart to bail on the Knicks and found a new love in the Nets, so don't look back now, the Nets have just begun, hanging in there now will only strengthen you love for the Nets.

Hang in there and good luck! I'm sure there will be a lot of Knick fans joing you in cheering for the Nets this upcoming season and who knows how many into the future.

Before jumping aim for anyone wearing blue and orange.

Wait!! wait!!! wait!!!

Don't jump, D Will, Wallace & Lopez will all re-sign with the Nets.

We'll get a new toy at PF to watch plus we will actually have our own court in one of, if not the best, home court's in the NBA.

Once we get through re-signing D Will our future is fine, we'll be a playoff team each year and it will be down to what moves King makes wheather or not we make a push to contender status.

So hang in there, you've watched them through the utter trash years so bear with it and watch the team blossom in Brooklyn.

PS If you jump off the Brooklyn bandwagon I will swim the atlantic ocean, hunt you down using your occupation (your 10mins from Barclays so could take me a year to find you but i will) then I will tap you on the shoulder, as you turn your face will be introduced to a 14lbs raw fish across your mutton chops

Fall on your face so you don't have to see how bad we are.

Alright Alright...you guys have done a pretty good job of at least talking me back in the window...it's still open though! I might as well see how this off season is gonna play out. I just can't shake that feeling of getting my heart broken by DWill on July 3rd! Hey, if he leaves...there's always Lou Williams!

I feel your pain, BNF. What hurts the most is that we've MADE half of our misfortune. The positive part is that it could STILL turn out better than any franchise has a right to believe it should, because we have the *chance* to assemble a core with two top-10 players.

Like you, I am something of a nomad NBA fan. I have been a Kidd fan since he was in college, and have followed him in fandom with every trade. Somehow though, I remained attached to the Nets after he was traded back to Dallas. Also like you, the Wallace trade really has me re-thinking my allegiance. The desperate stupidity of the move aside, it was short-sighted in a couple of ways:

1) 16-game rental of a UFA (I don't care how many Nets fans defend it by saying it we wouldn't have had a chance to sign him otherwise, we could have signed SOME other SF, and KEPT our lotto pick!)

2) we were just starting to get great production out of Gerald Green

3) we could have had Paul Pierce (I can't believe you guys still can't admit that you would have rather have the Truth. And don't tell me hindsight is 20/20, because we knew exactly who PP is)

4) Most importantly, the entire trade was based upon the ONE guy in the league who valued Gerald Wallace like a lotto pick, Billy King BFF Otis Smith. The RECENTLY-FIRED-AND-IF-OUR-FRONT-OFFICE-HAD-BEEN-DOING-THEIR-JOB-THEY-WOULD-HAVE-KNOWN-HE-WAS-GETTING-AXED Otis Smith. I can't imagine anyone else in the Magic organization values Wallace the way Otis did, and that makes our trade package for Dwight that much weaker.

I never want to be a bandwagoner, nor a fairweather Johnson. But there's only so much bad luck and mismanagement that I can take before I dial back my devotion and concentrate on other interests in life. This summer could go either way for the Nets, and so could I.

EDIT: so yeah, do a flip.

Let me see if I remember it without watching the clip...

I haven't watched it, but come on, you know that's not right.

It's "the spirit is willing. But the flesh is sprongy and bruised."
