Which lottery would you have rather won, 2011 or 2012?

From the Nets' perspective, what would you have rather had, assuming of course we kept our lottery pick in the Deron Williams deal, or at least if it was #1 protected.
#1 pick in 2011 draft (Kyrie Irving)
or
#1 pick in 2012 draft (Anthony Davis)
It would seem the logical thing to do would be to go with Anthony Davis, since we already have a star PG in Deron.
But do you think Irving can play SG next to Deron? And assuming after we found out that Irving is a stud, do we then think about trading Deron at this year's deadline for young talent, and build around Irving? Or would we have definitely traded with Orlando for Dwight over the summer, using Irving and Lopez as the main pieces in the deal?

As a personal choice, and ignoring anything about basketball, I'd take Kyrie Irving just because I like the kid. As a basketball choice, though, you take Anthony Davis 100 times out of 100. And that's without even having Deron on the roster.

Great question.
It's a good question although Irving has performed in the NBA so you know how good he actually is. As of right now Davis is just potential, insane potential but still only potential.
I think Irving can be the best PG in the game if he progresses how I think he will, he's that good. BUT Davis has a HOF ceiling and could be a complete game changer of the future so as much as I love Irving you'd pick Davis to build around and be the future of the franchise.

So wait this is assuming Deron was still on the roster?
Then there's noway you can choose Kyrie unless you have a great deal worked out for Deron in trade.
Kyrie's one of my favorite players right now though and actually wanted to come here.
I don't think it's out of the question he's the best point guard in the league in 3 seasons.

OK, say we don't have Deron and we still have Favors...do you take Irving then?

Yes. I think I would have to. I am also still very high on Favors.
And we'd still have a high lotto pick in this draft as well, just like Cleveland does, it just wouldn't be #1 overall in this scenario.

And to think we had a chance at getting both...

If we got insanely lucky and got Irving AND Davis...while keeping Favors???
PG-Irving
SG-Morrow
SF-???
PF-Favors
C-Davis
Don't know who could have been the SF, but Irving is 20, Favors is 20, and Davis is 19...and we actually did have a legitimate shot at all 3.
We'd be OKC East.
EDIT: Also just realized that we would still have Harris and Lopez. Possibly could have gotten Granger at that SF spot?
Damn, and that's not even that much of a stretch to be honest with you. We already had Favors. Assuming no Deron, we would have had a better shot at Irving. And assuming Irving+Favors+Harris off the bench instead of Deron, we would have had a better shot at Davis.
And wasn't Indiana interested in Harris and picks for Granger at some point?
THAT looks like a 5-year plan, not the **** we have going on now.

Don't forget the Golden State pick for the future as well.
