I think that might be the nail in the coffin for Dwight Howard.

I'll put up a TPE and future 2nd rounder appreciation thread up. BlueDawn will provide the highlights.

You guys are going to really like Reggie Evans. He's a rebounding machine and can play defense. Also very cheap.

Great... now on twitter netsdaily will try to justify the Wallace trade even more by saying that it helped us get Reggie Evans.

not a bad deal, remember guys you can't package TEs in larger deals, but we can include Evans in a deal to take back Jrich... i'd guess his contract is frontloaded so we have a better chance of making a trade later this year,

Marshon 1 + Lopez 10 + Hump 8 + Evans 3 may be getting close to what we will need to send out to make the salaries match for Howard and JRich.

Reportedly, 3yr/$5mil deal. Very cheap!

EDIT:

Nets, Clippers Finalizing Reggie Evans Sign-And-Trade
Jul 03, 2012 4:05 PM EDT

The Nets are finalizing a sign-and-trade deal with the Clippers for Reggie Evans, according to sources.

Evans will receive a three-year, $5 million contract.

Evans will presumably back up Mirza Teletovic at power forward.

The Clippers will receive a future second round pick.

Can't package Reggie until December.

So if Reggie is making 3 million, it would have to be a seperate deal for Duhon or Richardson.

Hm. So it might be possible that they got him for the 1.5 TPE, instead of taking a chunk out of the 3 million.

yeah well I really don't think its likely that anything happens with a sign and trade now which HALVES Lopez's outgoing value, might not even be enough to get Howard alone unless the magic are willing to significantly overpay for Hump and lopez... an immanent Howard deal is really unlikely IMO

i think the plan should be to be as competitive as possible this year, then make our run at howard in free agency instead of getting raped, and i think the nets are moving in that direction.

but hey at least evans can catch a pass on the run and finish unlike petro or shelden williams

The Nets won't have the cap space to make a run at Howard in free agency next year.

Make no mistake IF all goes well for guys like Brook and we are healthy enough to discuss a trade LATER this year...the price will go up. Teletovic plays well? GONE. Crash looks refreshed and they want him? Hey...gone and we eat as many fart burger contracts as they can add in.

The best time for us to deal is RIGHT NOW. Even though it seems to get harder and harder to do.

I am predicting that Dwight Howard will be traded before the season starts. Maybe within the next week. If we take away all chances of a trade match for Dwight...forget eating contracts or a fair deal then I think he is going elsewhere. I mean...if we literally cannot match up using our RFA players in an S&T....if we cant absorb Dwight under the current rules...whatever...then Dwight will expand the list and be traded to another team. Most likely? LA. And then its over.

So hopefully there is an angle here that we can trade for DWIGHT. Even if we cant satisfy Orlando in eating their contracts.

ok according to my understanding of CBA we can accept a salary up to 125% more than what we are sending out.

Howard is getting 19.2 ml next year. that means we need to come up with 15.4 in outgoing salary Brook counts for half since he's BYC, so if he starts at 12 million a year that counts as 6, marshon is at 1.2, Hump needs to start at over 8 million. Are the magic willing to pay more than market value to these guys right now just to get Howard off their hands? Their other option is just to wait a couple more months and unload him midseason when we would gladly give up those guys at lower salary plus be able to afford J Rich. Not to mention possibly get Crash or Teletovic like you said and also unload Turk. Seems like the magic would be crazy panicked to do the trade now.
