No Andray Blatche & Gerald Green Super Combo?

If New Jersey cannot get Howard before the trade deadline, there’s a very good chance they will crater out as one of the worst franchises in the NBA as they attempt to open their new Brooklyn arena. Even in a best-case scenario, they would probably be two to three years away from seriously contending for a playoff berth. At the same time, the New York Knicks, their main competition for eye-balls and dollars in the Tri-State area, have the core of a title contender in place as well as a player whose popularity transcends the sport.

Anyone else remember this above **** disgrace of an article?

It was hilarious when it was slobbered all over the frontpage but it makes for an even more comical read now

Does anyone know if that hack writer of that article has a twitter account? Someone needs to spam the hell out of him.

He wrote another recently about how Deron is the NBA's best PG.

Trying to suck up to Nets fans now that we are good.

A few things:

- The writer actually is a Mavericks fan who was waaaaaaaay to confident Deron would come to Dallas.

- Him saying Deron is the best PG in basketball is not really sucking up to us, as you can find many people who think that anyway. It's not really a revolutionary thought.

- I actually BATTLED with this guy through e-mail for about a week demanding he come to the RealGM board and issue an apology. The ENTIRE time he tried to defend the article by saying he truly believed that building around Green and Blatche would be a great move for the franchise. Yes, he's that much of a @$$-()o()

Either way, if Blatche was interested in a vet minimum deal, I'd entertain it, but if he honestly felt like he was worth more than that I would tell him to go get in the unemployment line. Gerald, I'd still love to have back in the price is right. Something like 3 years, $8 million but I think he can get more than that and I'll wish him the best. If we move Brooks though, it may be wise to push hard for Green again for scoring off the bench.

I came to this board trying to learn about Gerald Green, and I chose this thread because his name is in it..but I hardly see anything!

Could I get a fan's perspective on Gerald Green?

When he first came into the league he had the IQ of a donut.

Bounced around a bit and turned into a fairly good scorer and an eager defender last year... Won't wow you with his dribbling but is fearless going to the rim... Great one-on-one player especially from the post where he has a very effective turn-around jumper... Loves to pull-up from three be it after one or two dribbles or coming off a screen... From what i recall doesn't take too many mid-range shots unless they come off of a pump fake from behind the three-point line and he takes 1 or 2 steps in... Doesn't create much for others but isn't as prone to tunnel vision as he was when in Boston and Minnesota...

Green was an excellent role player last year. I personally don't think he's ready for a bigger role than what the Nets gave him.

(Pretty much all Nets fans would love to have him back, but it's unlikely that will happen given how limited the Nets are from a salary cap standpoint right now)

Insanely athletic.
Solid finisher
Great from distance in catch and shoots.
Decent off ball slashing ability.
Beast in transition.
Seemed to have a good attitude and a hard worker.
Solid defender.

Lateral quicks are surprisingly average for his athleticism, but very good recovery speed.
Awful handle.
Limited passing ability.
Even though he shouldn't be forefront of an attack, still disappears to often.
Still raw after all these years.

Overall if he can improve he can be a very good role player at off the bench at either wing spot and has the rare remaining potential to be an average starting small forward if your 2 is a high usage guy.

@drejeronfire, VC4P,

So he's an "awful" ball handler, but a good 1 on 1 driver? Not that I haven't seen that type of player before, but I feel like it's somewhat rare. A good driver can typically handle a little bit. Is the bolded part the real, accurate analysis, or are you guys in disagreement a little bit?

Earlier in his career teams tried to use Green as an ISO player, but he just doesn't have the handles to do that. He found his niche last year as an effective off the ball scorer.

I worded it wrong. He's a great one-on-one player in / from the post. I also want to stress, like VC mentioned, that despite being very athletic Green doesn't have a great first step or lateral quickness.

In fairness to the writer of the article, Blatche is a great talent. He just has no heart, or work ethic. Dude's conditioning was so bad that he wasn't allowed to finish out the season. If he fully dedicated himself to becoming in tip-top shape (which will never happen), he'd be an All-Star.

There's no fairness to the author, he's a tool and a troll and an asshat and a clownshoe.

BTW, Dray, in case you didn't know the author is also the dude Russell Westbrook clowned in that post game interview this year in the playoffs lol.

He's freaking awesome and easy to root for.
