What's the word on Kirilenko?

Raptor fan here.
I was wondering if the Nets are still pursuing Andrei. I know your owner has Russian mafioso connections / ties to him probably since I am Russian myself and I know how it works up there

. If so, what type of contract do you expect to be offering? I am just wondering because I would love to have him on the Raptors and I want to know if we would be able to compete.

Kirllenko Staying in Russia?
Andrei Kirilenko sure looked like a Nets target back in May (long time ago!). After Deron Williams cheered on his former teammate at the Euroleague Final Four in Istanbul, Andrei and Masha Kirilenko hosted Deron and Amy Williams on a tour of Moscow that included all the local sights, including Mikhail Prokhorov, AK-47's former boss and friend.
After Deron and Amy departed, Kirilenko told a Moscow reporter that the Nets and Jazz were "my top priorities" if he returned to the NBA.. Since then, Kirilenko has been training with Team Russia. This week, he told a Russian paper that he could still choose to stay with CSKA Moscow (who would pay him $3 million). More tellingly, he said his agent hasn't contacted any NBA teams and he expects to make a decision by August 1. By then, there'll be little money for any remaining free agents.

So no word on what the Nets would be offering him in terms of salary?

The Nets are no longer pursuing Kirilenko because they can no longer offer a competitive salary.
The only scenario in which the Nets would land Kirilenko would be if there is a three-team sign and trade.
The Nets would sign and trade Humphries to a third team, that third team would send players, etc. to the Jazz and the Jazz would send Kirilenko to the Nets...
Long story short. It's not happening. The AK-47 to the Nets boat has sailed for now...

Jazz can't sign and trade him because he sat out this past season. Unless he's taking a vet min, no way he's on the Nets next season.

Was this a change to the CBA?
I can't recall, but how exactly did the Suns work out the sign-and-trade for Josh Childress (RFA?)?
If I'm reading this correctly it seems rather moronic that you lose a player's bird rights if he plays abroad for an entire season:
If the player is out of the NBA for at least one season before re-signing, the clock resets when he re-signs with his prior team. This is because Bird rights are established on the basis of the immediately preceding three (or two) seasons when a player becomes a free agent. For example, if a team had Larry Bird rights to a free agent in 2011 and that player signed overseas for 2011-12, then the team still has full Bird rights if the player returns to the NBA in 2012 (because when the player became a free agent in 2012 they had full Bird rights, and those rights didn't go away when the player signed outside the NBA). However, if that player signs a one-year contract with his previous NBA team for 2012-13 then the clock resets, and the team will have only Non-Bird rights in 2013 -- because the player becomes a free agent again in 2013, so his Bird status is re-evaluated on the basis of the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. Since the player did not play for the team in 2011-12, the one-year version of Bird rights (non-Bird) is awarded.

This. Last thing I remember reading is he was happy with his position in the USSR.
However-- maybe he sees the NETS are building a solid unit-- maybe its inciting enough for his departure to be reunited with Deron Williams. Personally- I would not be mad if he signed.
