Brooklyn Nets Official Get Hyped Thread

Yes, he's just a backup PG, but this CJ Watson signing (combined with Teletovic taking mini MLE) has a much greater meaning. We are FINALLY a team that players will be willing to take less money to play for. Watson could have easily commanded a 3-4 year $8-11 mil somewhere else yet he chose to take less than a mil a year to play in Brooklyn.

I don't know about you guys, but this signing really makes me feel like we've arrived as a franchise... and I haven't felt this proud to be a Nets fan since at least 2004 when we got VC.

I agree with this sentiment, but I imagine Watson probably would have got around 4.2 for 2 years.

He got about 2.1 for 2 years here if he takes his option.

Regardless, that's a huge pay cut for a low salary guy like Watson to begin with.

It's a big deal because like you lads have said it shows we're now a big market team and hopefully we should be in with a good shout with any free agents or any player looking to move in the future.

Before you knew we had to overpay just to sign someone nevermind anyone decent. Oh how times have changed.

Also I actually really like CJ Watson as a player so it's just a win win all around.

Deron's jersey definitely. Was about to buy the old Nets red jersey, glad I waited.

You know what we need? We need a rugged, tough SOB who will get in the other team's face and get the crowd pumped...or we need a high flyer that will posterize people. Green would have been the latter, sad he didn't stay, because he would have been great. G-Wall is kind of like that physical, rugged player...but he's too nice to opponents, as in, he's not going to go ape **** on them if they commit a dirty foul, he'll just keep playing. He's not a showboaty guy either.

I'm mentioning this, because I'm reminiscing watching some old K-Mart highlights, and seeing how much of a boss he used to be.
