Who's with me? The nets should just re-sign him. He is the player we need off the bench at pf. Evans is ok but limited big time.

AST the end of the day I think he will... Though I don't want him back if he wants more than 2 years.

There is not that much interest for him, especially from teams that have cap. Look at the Cavs they didn't want him even with a pick attached.

Can't have too much front court depth. + if we can get him on a reasonable contract (which is possible, but unlikely) could be another trading piece.

Would much rather have K-Mart at this point.

Kmart for 1 year > Hump for 2.

Hump is a volume guy with no real exceptional skills. I'd much rather give those minutes to Kenyon, who is still a much better defender, or Teletovic, who better be much better offensively.

Apparently, we're interested in him. I'd love to have K-Mart back. I can't lie, I'm bummed that Kidd won't be joining us. They would have been a killer combo off the bench.

Humphries is gone. Right now, it's just a matter of whether we will facilitate a S&T, of if he'll just walk. He's probably waiting on an S&T, because very few teams with capspace need a FA PF for starter money.

I am hoping no one bites on Hump and he has to come back willing to take the 1 year deal he didnt want in the first place.

I said this in 2 other threads tonight...but I am thinking long term. I want a a nice sized 1 year contract to have a better offer come January if Dwight is still out there.

Not that I am getting my hopes up. Just saying, it would be nice NOT to be short sighted this time and make it harder on ourselves like we did trading a high lottery pick for an eventual free agent's Bird rights so we can over pay him.

This time...can we realize that an expiring Hump or whoever added to Lopez allows us to eat more contracts from Orlando? If its a multi year deal for ANYONE...we are fools. I dont care if we make a trade and get someone decent. That guy or those guys MUST be on 1 year deals.

In this case expiring contracts are more value to us that the talent of the players themselves because we are NOT a contender yet. We need to set ourselves up for what's next. If that's Howard? Great. if its someone else who is selling during the season? Fine. But lets not be idiots and take ourselves out of the game.

I am probably one of the bigger fans of Hump on this board, but I personally do not want him back unless its like what E stated 1yr deal which doesn't strap us for possible Jan. 15th trade...

so you guys would veto hump at 3 or 4 years at the MLE? cuz thats the most he's getting i think.

the thing with our cap is we're **** for the next 3 or 4 years anyway, with 3 max players. We're not getting under. Rumor has it we are not resigning hump and trading marshon for more cap flexibility but damn we're not getting under the cap. And keep in mind we have the richest owner in the league so who cares about money.

only reason i could see is we get to spend the full mle now, or whats left of it. like 2 million. so the real question is, is Hump worth 2 mil a year?

I would. Screw him. He screwed up our chances with Dwight by rejecting what would have been an $8M per on two years. 3 or 4 years on MLE would be $15M/3 or $20M/4....which is basically what was offered to him to do a S&T.

And now it's time for a game called "Shortening E's Posts"...

nah nobody wanted to bite on a multi year deal. thats what he wanted, you cant blame him. he already did the 1 year contract thing, its tough to play knowing if you get hurt you miss your next payday.

you mad at him? doesnt the team come first? with or without howard, coming off the bench, he can be a valuable asset. We may not get Dwight. We may be looking at a huge hole at the 4. We expect to fill it with JAMISON? KMart who can probably play 15 mpg? EVANS? these guys are old. if hump leaves for nothin we're shooting ourselves in the foot.

I just hope we have a resolution with Hump soon. From what I gather, the Nets would rather give a guy like Martin or Jamison a 2 year deal for less than what Hump will want, who will also probably want a 4 year deal. I can see someone like the Timberwolves or Thunder come out of nowhere and sign him.

why? what the hell do we care, we have unlimited moneys. I feel like this is a no brainer. Humps old enough now that rebuilding teams are not interested in him, he'll only go to playoff sqauds and he will bemore valuable to us than to them. thunder are a good example. the other reason not to bring him back, as speedy perhaps intimates, is that his presence makes brooks stats and therefore tradevalue worse. this is true, but i dont think we should be mortgaging this teams future on the hopes of bringing in dwight. I think the magic will prefer the lakers anyway so it doesnt even matter that much. he comes here whther we have hump or we dont. if we bring in a poor rebound guy like jamison brooks numbers will go up but it will hurt us. in 09-10, with brook and yi, we were pretty much the worst reboundingteam in the league. in 10-11, we were above average. thanks hump
