jerseys?
The rumour is that the jerseys will be unveiled at the Jay Z gig in the Barclays Centre.
But it's definitely September that the jerseys are released.

Re: jerseys?
Am I the only one who thinks the new colors and logos lack imagination? I find them simply boring. My guess is that we will have all sorts of third color variations to maximize sales. But to take plain black and white? Too similar to the Spurs...and the Heat did that for their variant jersey's last season. Disappointed. I said this before...but I was hoping we would add the gold like the NO Saints have. The Bklyn Knights use that gold and black as well...and over the years they added a 4th color a nice blue to it....

Re: jerseys?
I posted in an earlier thread that FORMER Net (finally!!!) Johan Petro told me that he had seen the uniforms and the away jerseys look similar to the Heat blackout jerseys.

Black and White and probable the best colors for marketability. People are more likely to wear these colors in casual settings than the more flamboyantly colorful jerseys of other teams that stick out like a sore thumb in non-basketball settings.

i love the black and white.... especially if there is a nearly all black uniform. i think those are bad ass. spurs have silver in theirs... so thats a bit different. id agree the logo is a bit minimalistic for my liking. but i love the black and white. kinda classy and also kinda baddass imo.

Re: jerseys?
I do like the black and white a lot. If they add another color to accent alternate jerseys I hope it's something like baby blue.... something soft on the eyes.

Spurs uniforms are almost identical colors just a bit of silver..not a flashy color. Do you see a lot of Spurs gear walking around? Even at their height...they were never a big seller.
But obviously I am seriously in the minority here. I was so complete disappointing when I saw the colors and the logos. Just plain and boring to me.
I did like the fake version worn by Dwight and Deron in that badly photo shopped photo floating around. They took the Magic uniform and tweaked it. I thought the design was really nice.

Spurs gear doesn't sell because the team is not exciting to watch. Not because of the colors.
Besides Nets gear has been the number 1 seller in the NBA store. The black and white design was genius. Jay-Z has marketed it perfectly.

Re: jerseys?
I went to Bermuda a few weeks ago and saw 2 different people wearing Nets hats, and one of them was a woman. That would NOT have happened 2 years ago.

We are selling so well because its new and we have buzz as the first new team in a major market in what? A half century? There was nothing genius about simply font and basic lines devoid of color...that was beyond a reach statement by you.
Loving it? That's fine. Many seem too. From a business standpoint the true genius...is that black and white on day one allows you to set up the TRUE test...which is will sales last? And the way they can do that is through alternatives like every other franchise. If you core colors are black and white you can add any other colors you want to sell variety later. That's why they did this. Putting Jay-Z's name to something most likely set up by Yormack and an outside marketing group? Also smart. But I call BS to any genius done here by Jay-Z. His name gives brand identity.

Re: jerseys?
I would say that the spurs have never been a top seller because of their location. San Antonio isn't exactly a marketable city like LA or NY. I expect the Nets to outsell them by a considerable amount because of the NY advantage.
That being said, the primary logo still sucks.

That doesn't mean anything.
Just because you are the new team in town doesn't mean you will sell a lot. When was the last time a new team was the number 1 seller in merchandise. And we did it WITHOUT jerseys.
Its genuis because everyone will wear black and white for any occasion. You can market it to all age groups genders, classes, and styles. Black and white matches with everything. There are few types of shoes/pants/hats you can't wear with black and white.
It also simply looks cool. I know people who aren't Nets fans that simply want to buy Nets merchandise.
The black and white scheme is tapping into a market that doesn't exist in the NBA currently. Nobody has the scheme right now. Including the Spurs. Their merchandise has more silver than white on it. Black and silver is not black and white.
Thats why its genus.

Re: jerseys?

I personally love the logo.
I'm still wondering what the jersey's will look like. To be honest, I like our home/away jersey's will be black/white, but I'm hoping our alternate's are very imaginative. Like E said, gold trim would look really cool ala Saints but the Brooklyn Knights colors would be pretty solid as well.

By your own points you should realize you are speaking utter nonsense.
We ARE generating buzz in A new a major market with a huge well talked about payroll. And YES every new color scheme every year has a serious up tick in sales..even Grizzlies even OKC. 2011 last complete year OKC 6th, Spurs 8th btw. Every time there is something NEW that is desirable it has a serious increase in sales. Its why the changing of uniform #'s became fashionable....and why I made the point about adding third alternative colors. You will see Nets clothing in years to come with every variant imaginable once sales slows down.
And if your fashionista argument were true...(although beyond jeans what the hell are people wearing their hoops gear with) then why after all these years havent black and white over colorful uniforms that do NOT go with everything been the hot sellers? Been the hot color patterns...EVER? White Sox or Cubs? Who sold more? And if your argument for the plain matching everything nonsense...yeah that would explain why Celtic Green and Laker Purple and Gold ad Nix blue and orange have been such duds!!!! Oh...the purple and gold btw top seller 8 of the last 9 seasons.
And the Spurs primary home uniform for years was primarily white and black with a touch of silver so that wasnt true. And in 2011 with the Spurs finishing 8th with the closest color pattern to what we are talking about...TD jersey's didnt crack the top 15.
And, in the years to come...its players who sell jerseys not colors. From Lin, to Rose...to whoever HAS BUZZ that year. That and winning records. The Spurs of course with their primarily black and white defied that logic of course. During their winning years still not among the best sellers. Many a time KG's flamboyant 8th seeded Minnesota jersey did better than TD's.
Another real kick to your argument in looking at jersey sales. Denver who like the Spurs are smaller market...traded away their franchise player that season and HAVE loud color patterns that clearly do not match everything...finished 9th in jersey sales without a single player in the top 20.
I am still laughing at this wearing sports gear with any occasion. Yeah...the next time I am rocking my formal wear...whew...I will be relieved I finally have some black and white NBA gear to spruce it up. Those Yankee pinstripes that no one buys because they cant possibly get it to match anything were really cramping my style. And dont even get me started on Steelers Black and Gold among the best sellers all time for sports MDSE. Those loud colors are a REAL DONT.
So I will repeat. Its fine for you to like what you like. But stop speaking with authority on an opinion that factually doesnt hold true. We would be selling just fine with Dodger blue or JayZ blue and white or black...or mint freakin green right now. The real test comes later when things slow down. What do you do next. And the "genius" so to speak in plain boring block letters with simple lines plus these colors...and using the match anything argument...isnt for jeans and sneakers. Its that black and white can match any third color they chose to add for alternatives. It will increase the variations they can deliver to market later. Its a simple year one offering that you can enhance with tiny improvements that will really "pop" later. Starting with less is an actual marketing concept. I mean come on. A plain white B on a black ball? Nets on a shield devoid of any true 3D design? THAT took months of strategic planning? Stop it.
