board's dead pt 2, let's talk about brook

Post#1 » by deepblueday » Mon Aug 27, 2012 10:15 pm

noticed theres somewhat of a divide as to how the influx of talent is going to impact brook's game/statistical output. does he score more or less this year? does his rebounding and defense improve? predict the stats.

i think he's a 21 and 8 player this season. we have no legit backup c, so he's going to play his standard 35 MPG. his volume alongside deron has been tremendous, something like 23 PPG. we have 4 drive and dish guards, and brook can finish from anywhere 16 feet and in. the post oppurtunities might decline a little, but averys going to feature him, and hes going to see the ball a lot down low with mirza on the floor with him. i guess it really depends on the degree to which JJ buys into playing a team style, and crash accepts the idea of being a defensive, rebounding force, and having little run for him offensively. defensively, i think we'll see improved effort, still going to struggle with the pick and roll, but he's a presence at the rim and he'll get close to 2 BPG.

No excuse for him not to dramatically improve his rebounding and defense (and if he does, I feel a lot better about this team). He's going to be at most the 2nd option on offense, at least, the 3rd. He's not going to have to spend nearly as much energy offensively as he has before, especially with Deron feeding him the ball.

So he needs to focus on his defense and rebounding, and just let the offense take care of itself.

Understatement of the year, I think considering the stick he got from the GB, dark horse doesn't even come close to show how undervalued he is

are you guys serious about this 20+ppg and 8+ boards??? I mean I think hes good but hes not going to be a 20-8 player, at least not on this team and definitely not this year. 15-5 is a lot more realistic. Theres too many options on this team, hell avg about 28-29mpg and lead the second unit but hes not taking shots form JJ, Lopez and Dwill....

he averaged 19/8 as a second year guy. not sure why a healthy lopez cant get 20/8 in his 5th year with more offense on the team to prevent defenses from focusing on him.

he should be the first or second option in the half court. he took 16 shots a game 2 years ago and averaged 20 a game while shooting under 50%. i see no reason why he wont get the same amount of looks with better efficiency this season.

5 rebounds a game? i dont see that at all. he had 6+ a game 2 years ago despite battling shoulder injuries, mano, and playing on a horrible defensive team with no help around him.

at worst a healthy lopez gets 17/7

29 minutes? thats a joke. with our big rotation he will see a minimum of 32-34 mpg. probably closer to 35-36

not sure, but i think predicting 15/5 from marshon this year is tad more embarrassing than misreading the thread title and apparently deciding to not even bother reading the opening post

Oh that's what he did..

As for Brook. I'm predicting 17 ppg and 7 to 8 rebounds per game. I think that's a pretty fair prediction at this point. We really dont know if he'll share duties as the first option, if he'll be the 2nd option or if he'll b e the 3rd option behind Deron. But I think that he'll still be good for 17 a game because his efficiency will go up now that he won't get double teamed every other possession.
