Preseason Game 3: Brooklyn Nets @ Boston Celtics

NETS vs. CELTICS
Location/Arena: TD Garden, Boston, MA
GameTime: 7:30pm
Channel: NBATV

Officials: E. Malloy, S. Corbin, K. Lane

Starting Lineups

Boston Celtics
PG: Rajon Rondo
SG: Courtney Lee
SF: Paul Pierce
PF: Jared Sullinger?
C: Kevin Garnett

vs.

Brooklyn Nets
PG: CJ Watson
SG: MarShon Brooks
SF: Josh Childress
PF: Reggie Evans
C: Andray Blatche

Things to Note:
Both teams are playing their second night of a back-to-back.

In their last game, BOS lost to PHI by 32 points. However, KG did not play and no single player on Boston played more than 27 minutes.

BKN beat WAS 98-88 in their first game of the back-to-back, which was the first preseason game ever at the Barclays Center. JJ played 38 minutes in the first preseason game and D-Will was brought back in at the end of the 4th quarter to close out against a depleted Wizards roster.

What to Watch For:
Even though it's a preseason game, this game will serve as a good measuring stick to see how far they are jelling as a team. What better way to measure yourselves than against a veteran Boston team in a preseason friendly.

Key Matchup:
Deron Williams vs. Rajon Rondo

Many people have argued that Rondo's overall regular season performance and playoff performance from last year have vaulted him in front of Deron Williams on the list of the league's best PG.

This is D-Will's first chance to prove that he's better and can be just as, if not more effective, than Rondo when given an equally talented team.

LET'S GO NETS!!!

Btw, the first episode of 'The Association' featuring the Nets is on right after the game.

EDIT: If it's true that the starters aren't playing, then most of the info was largely for nothing. Oh well

Don't forget, guys. This game is on NBA TV, not YES. After the game is the first episode of The Association as well.

I have to pick my poison tonight:

-Watch a preseason basketball game that means nothing at all.
-Watch the Yankees get no hit tonight vs Velander
-Watch the Presidential Debate and potentially gouge my eyes out if Obama is as passive this time around.

Hmm..

EDIT: Looks like none of the starters are playing tonight... lol. Thanks for making my decision a lot easier Brooklyn!

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
#Nets starting five tonight: CJ Watson, Keith Bogans, Josh Childress, Reggie Evans and Dray Blatche.

Couldn't Avery just play the starters for two quarters then use the bench? Sheesh. They might have to break out Jerry Stackhouse tonight since Marshon won't play.

Well I guess that's why Avery gave Deron and Joe big minutes last night.

Hopefully this means we see some Toko and a lot of Mirza.

WTF was Avery thinking. Just play the starters for two first half quarters and then rest them. We don't play until Thursday.

avery johnson really is a mind **** of a coach. why not play the starters 10 or 15 minutes? why not play 1 or 2 starters 10 or 15 minutes? he's decided to immediately toss this game out the window as a useless blowout where we learn nothing, and along the way solid bench players like watson and blatche get to have horribly inefficient games as they're asked to do things they aren't capable of.

There is clearly some pressure to play the starters at the home games, hence giving them a full day off tonight.

I'm no Avery fan, but calling for his firing because of a preseason game? Laughable.

Yep, let me introduce you to Tommy who is the analyst for tonight's game:

He's been parts of broadcasting basketball games for a long time...not to mention his NBA career...

Good first quarter. I like James Mays strength.
