Trade Targets

We seem to put commenting on possible trades throughout different threads so thought it would make sense.

The only position we're in need of an upgrade is PF so who can we bring in and target realistically?

The two most attainable PF who would give us a an upgrade would be Nene and Boozer. Boozer is someone very interesting to me and who is quietly having a good season with Rose out injured. He's a player being talked about in possible amnesty terms so who could be available by simply sending Hump for Boozer as it would save the Bulls a lot of money.

Boozer also was playing his best ball with D Will and by reuniting them it could turn into something. We keep our picks in this sort of deal and young players while getting an upgrade at PF and still being able to make a superstar trade in the future if one becomes available by keeping all our future picks.

So yeh, what ideas do others have?

Come on man....

We own all our 1st round picks. Have a number of young players with some value such as Taylor & Brooks. Got two very good Euros in Karaman and Bogdanovic. Got a huge future expiring (currently just a short term deal) in Hump & his $12m deal.

Obviously have the likes of Lopez if a big player becomes available. The point is we have enough pieces to upgrade our PF.

Unfortunately Humps contract is not a real asset at this point, though it will be next season. Otherwise, yeah we got some interesting prospects and picks, but really not enough to bring in a seriously good player. Of all the options Ive been hearing Nene seems to make the most sense. He's 30 years old and stuck on rebuilding team. Would the wiz consider a Hump + Prospects swap? I'm not sure because that team has way too many PFs and Nene's contract is only two years longer but there are tons of third teams that could get involved. But

heres a scenario

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/6159972

Wash gets two expirings, bobcats get the dude they wanted to sign in the summer.

Our squad obviously gets better Nene is good fit except him and Brook are not aggresive defensive reboudners

-------
But Hump cannot be traded until mid January so it really depends on how this season plays out for all teams involved. If King is thinking along these lines, he gets avery to bump up Humps PT so he seems more valuable. If hump is having a mediocre season, it makes him a lot harder to trade.

As for Marshon I want to keep him, but he's still an unknown at this point.

@Rollydog

I'm pretty sure Hump can't be traded til December 15th. Lopez is the one who can't be traded until January.
----------------------
Also, whichever potential deal that centers around Hump going out needs to have a player with a bigger contract returning.

No team is going to give up a player that expires this year for one that expires next year.

Boozer's defense can't be as bad as Hump's right lol?

Plus, I'm sure D-Will is dying to have someone run PnR/PnP with him again. And he and Boozer did it for a few years in Utah so I'm sure it wouldn't take them too long to get it going again.

we had mid round first round picks, as we dont project to be a lottery team. teams dont trade for those unless its a throw in to a better asset, since they can buy one for 3M.

Karaman and bogdanovic are marginal chips, at best, and a few years away.

hump has no value in a trade until next season.

right now, the best we are getting at power forward is someone like landry or jason smith and that would probably cost us brooks and not be an upgrade

Since the limit on $3m per season that each team is allowed to spend, there hasn't been a single 1st rounder bought with money. Last years draft, Taylor, selected 41st overall, cost us over $2m dollars. So I highly doubt any first rounder will be bought for $3m other than maybe the 29/30 pick.

Point is, a 1st round pick still has value.

Bogdanovic definately has value, he was taken 1st in the 2nd round for quite a decent price so that his contract can be negotiated to get him over to the NBA. He's a good player who is very well thought of by scouts. Karaman is raw as hell and a real project so he doesn't have any value to other teams.

Hump is nearly averaging a double double again this season, playing less than 30 minutes per game. I believe there is a market for him in the right deal.

BUT i understand what people are saying, that we have very limited assets.

I've been thinking recently why we sign Hump at such an awkward contract and i've came into a conclusion that we are definitely looking to trade him for someone huge in the future. Look at the 2014 FA class:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/2014-nba-free-agents/

The potential of that class is huge. I can see us just going after one of those players and be in another mix of a drama.

Nene hasn't been healthy since last season with his foot problem and it's obviously not getting better either. No way, he's anything we should touch with that contract.

just because no one has in what, a couple years, doesnt show gms wont do it. teams arent trading jack for a late 20's first round pick. no one wants those. most teams would prefer a 30's second rounder that isnt gauranteed

only if you use it to draft a player, ina trade, a mid 20's pick is getting you nothing in return

almost no one wanted him when they could have him without giving up a player as a free agent. not sure why anyone would want him for that price AND having to include a better defensive power forward.

if we traded brooks, multiple picks, and bogs we might get a landry or jason smith. and even that is iffy.

Billy King had the full $3m to spend and tried desperately to get into the 1st round at the very tail of the round. Teams were wanting a future 1st along with the $3m just to get a late first on draft night. So it is far more unlikely since the new CBA came into force. So clearly teams do want those late round picks or they would take the money and run.

No way we trade JJ, he's a great player who's going through an early slump and taking time to adjust to a new offense. Plus I don't think lightning strikes twice for him and someone else agrees to take his contract.

There should really be a small list of people we would actually want to trade for now... and Smith has got to be at the top of the list.

However I think what's more important right now than a new player may be a new coach... unfortunately... :(

We should send Brook Lopez and Hump and 2 first rounders to Utah for Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap (both expiring contracts if it doesn't workout)...Our team would now be in same class as Miami, Boston and the Knicks with a line up of:

PG D-Will
SG J.J.
SF G.Wallace
PF P. Milsap
C A. Jefferson

Rebounding is part of defense and here we'd have it and while having a real PF

How about trying to swing a trade with Minny and getting Derrick Williams? This would involve getting rid of Hump, just there would have to be a third team involved.

I think we need another shooter off the bench.

How about we waive Childress, send Toko to the D league, and pick up a guy like Mike Redd?

edit: Raja Bell is available too? Consider him def...
