Deron still not comfortable with Avery's offense

From his ESPN interview:
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_ ... rade-utah-"I’ve really had injuries while I’ve been with (the Nets) the whole time. And didn’t have the talent around me that I did (with the Jazz). And that system (in Utah) was a great system for my style of play. I’m a system player, and I loved Coach (Jerry) Sloan’s system. I loved the offense there"
“A lot of cutting, a lot passing, a lot of screening, a lot of extra passes. I’m used to just movement. So I’m still trying to adjust. It’s been an adjustment for me. But it’s coming along.”
Williams thinks that he can eventually make it work playing Johnson’s system.
“I believe I can adapt to anything,” he said. “We’re still a young team. Things don’t happen overnight.”
"Brook is more versatile than people give him credit for, he can score in a bunch of ways"
So basically, he's somewhat saying he wishes he had the Jazz's offense with this roster. This team needs a offensive coach desperately.

Hmmm....when we stop moving, the offense goes to crap.
D-Will says the system we use doesn't have a lot of movement.
Who's system are running? Avery Johnson's system.
Avery Johnson's offensive system is crap.

I just checked the stats on basketball reference...Deron's best statistical seasons and win percentage came from the Jazz having a Top 10 pace...We are now 30th in pace per game and his stats are worse than the last 2 seasons. That's no coincidence.
Our halfcourt offense is: Run him off screens like Ray Allen for 3 point shots or let him ISO. No pick and roll, no mid-range sets, no 1-3 pick and rolls, nothing...
I haven't even seen him incorporated in any sort of plays or sets with Joe Johnson.
Avery really needs to go. We'll get exposed tomorrow.

This article is a good sign of the team starting to push Avery out. Deron is the leader, he wants to continue to be the leader, and I am extremely confident with him at the helm of this team.
The ownership needs to figure this out asap.

Avery system?
The Kobe system is more real than Avery's.

Ugh, why did he have to say he's a system player? Now all the trolls are going to cling to that. The truth is, he's a versatile offensive player, who can adapt to anything, like he says...he just can't adapt to nothing, which is what Avery is doing on offense. He doesn't need great coaching, he just can't have a useless coach.
I think Avery should take the reins off and let him freestyle like he did when he was first traded here. He shot like crap then too, but at least he had the ball in his hands the whole time and was creating on a super-elite level, and he clearly left his imprint on games. He wasn't invisible like he's been the majority of this season.

But don't you get it?
According to Avery, he has taken the reins off. He's "coaching" less and just telling them to run ISOs.

Also, I could care less what the trolls on the GB say.
Just compare the situation with Melo not playing well under Pringles. Melo is a great offensive player, but when your coach is asking you to do stuff that minimizes the impact of their player who has the greatest amount of talent on your team, you will suffer for it.
This team needs to be built around D-Will's playing style. He's the one you gave a max contract to and he's the one who sets up the offense.
I'm glad he said it, especially considering the fact that he has a good relationship with King. Deron already has good practice at getting a good coach to leave. Shouldn't be as hard to get Avery to go after the season is through.

i am a knicks fan and i mentioned this issue in a previuos game thread about derons style of play here as compared to utah. it is similar a bit to what carmelo went through last year with mike dantoni.
my question is unless avery changes his style of play and outside of the team winning 30 games this year which wont happen, i dont see nets getting rid of avery after the year. nets will get a top four seed this year and will probably make second round and if that happens avery will be back next season

No way we get a top four seed. Miami, New York, and Atlanta will easily have better records than us. And i can't imagine Boston and Chicago don't right their ships and go on runs. We're a sixth seed at best.

Yeah he probably is going to be back. And that's what scares me. We're going to end up being one of those teams that gets by on talent and everyone not looking hard enough is going to think that Avery is a great coach.

@MazzESPN
Avery says he has thick skin and Deron had already expressed what he told reporters yesterday #Nets
So why in the world are we not making changes?

The best thing about this though is that if D-Will doesn't feel like Avery's doing what's best to succeed, then the Fire Avery bandwagon will probably get their biggest supporter yet lol.

Avery:
"Joe really, really loves what we are doing and he loves it even more that he’s shooting the ball better. So whether it comes out publicly or whether the guys talk to me about stuff privately, I’ve got really thick skin and it doesn’t irritate me one bit. So a lot of his concerns, we’ve talked about it privately.
Deron:
“So we are going to continue to run those plays because that’s Joe’s game. That’s where he’s most successful at and then Brook [Lopez] on the block as well.”
Where did Joe come from in this? Lol
