Crash calls out his teammates

"It seems like guys are content with the situation that we are in, and I'm f------ pissed off about us losing, especially losing the way we are losing," Wallace said in the post-game without naming names. "We’re a way better team than what our record is."

"We play a good half or a great quarter and then we go back to playing selfish ball ... that’s not getting us anywhere."

"It’s mind-boggling that we’re in the situation we’re in," Wallace continued. "As good of a team as we are, as good as started off ... you saw the potential we had as a team, and the talent we have as a team. And yet, still, instead of team, it’s more of ‘I.’ "

"Confidence is our problem now," he said. "I think that’s our main problem. Guys have got too much confidence in themselves and are not trusting in the team.

"Our main thing is we’ve got to get back to a team concept, all for one. Offensively and defensively, when we move the ball, we execute, we take care of the ball, we make the extra pass. ... We’ve got to do everything as a team instead of relying on one guy to do this and one guy to do that."

I know this was mentioned in the Bucks game thread but I think it deserves its own topic.

What does this mean, big picture? Crash has obviously taken the role of leader on this team since Deron can't seem to get his **** together. And I really like him as a player and really appreciate what he means to this team. He doesn't need to be the #1-4 option in any given lineup, his presence is felt all over the floor, he doesn't give up when the team is down by 20, and he's just a great glue guy and defender who's always willing to give up his body.

Does Crash calling his teammates selfish has a more subtle meaning too....? as in ISO plays are not working?

Or is he referring to certain people? I can't really seem to figure who he might be talking about... Blatche would be the first guy that comes to mind.

I'm just sick of watching this team implode every game. They definitely have the talent, and I think they're really 1-2 role players away from getting the the ECF if they're playing to all of their strengths.

I just think Avery's play calling and rotations are completely mind boggling. I think he's lost the team. His team was embarassed on Christmas day, and then lost again to a team they haven't beat in 4 years. He's really got to go.

What do you guys take from Wallace's comments?

NetsDaily has been blowing small quotes out of proportion at an alarming rate recently...

But I think Gerald is just frustrated, and I'm happy that he came out and said what he said. Avery problems aside the team's commitment on the defensive end has been horrendous these past few weeks.

Early on the Nets were able to win despite Avery because they were committed to playing hard-nosed defense, lately that commitment has faltered.

Also while I'm probably one of his biggest advocates, I think Gerald is subtly calling out Brook Lopez who is averaging a career low in assists per game and has had a horrendous case of tunnel vision all year long.*

*Though I do want to beat to death (again) the following point... Far too many of Lopez moves / shot attempts begin with him driving from the wing.

When Lopez is driving from the wing he (and understandably so) just doesn't have the court vision / court awareness to make a pass on the move.

Something has to be done to get him the ball with his back to the basket... As a post-passer Lopez is still limited, but at least the pass attempts are there.

I'm happy he did this. Call the team out without calling them out. You know who you are and something needs to change.

I think this is the straw that broke the camels back. I'm happy Wallace came out and spoke up, I think he also was talking about the coaching staff content as well because I have yet to see Avery show the anger that he did when the lottery team Nets didn't execute or didn't hustle on defense, I have yet to see him get angry like he did with the Mavs.

He simply looked like he didn't care himself anymore but just pouted.

This may have triggered the Avery oust, which is a blessing...
