I think a win like this is huge not for the team but for the team to buy into PJ's words.

PJ isn't even a great coach, but he's still so much better than Avery.

Nah, not at all...I do believe he knows when to turn it on and when not to...hopefully from what I have seen so far, he continues to pick his spots and when these guys screw up he lets them know about it...

After the Spurs lost, the Nets needed a reality check and PJ explained simple thing in basketball that you need to do in order for you to execute at a high level...

At one point during the game he screamed we're not talking...usually, you only hear coaches at the collegiate level yell at players in this manner...but I really believe this is how fast this team loses focus during games and how they are still getting comfortable with one another...

PJ stated in the post game how the coaching staff kept reminding the team how OKC we'll go on several runs before this thing was over...stating he almost wanted the Thunder to go up by a couple points...then once the game was tied it was all about our response with less than 7min left...Easily, we closed this game in the 4th better than any other game this year and with it being against OKC it should really add to our confidence...

Why is our team such a sensitive group of pansies, that us as fans view a coach yelling at them as completely refreshing, but kind of dangerous, since the players might get mad at him, or get their feelings hurt?

I always thought a coach yelling at his players when they make mistakes is par for the course, and that every coach does it. Heck, watch Greg Popovich when Duncan makes a mistake. Tim Duncan is a 2x league MVP and a 3x Finals MVP, and he's the main reason why Popovich coached 4 title teams...and Popovich still chews Duncan out when he makes a mistake. Still puts him in place during practices in front of the entire team when he doesn't like what Duncan's doing. And you know what? Duncan doesn't say a word. Doesn't shoot him a glare. Doesn't mutter anything under his breath. He acknowledges his mistakes and tries to do better.

And honestly, I never thought that was special behavior that deserved praise. I always thought that's how players should react to their coaches. But I guess not.

I agree and am skeptical at the same time....

1) I think teams are always going to rally around the new/interim guy after the HC is fired.

2) of our 3 wins, 2 came against scrub teams and the third against a team we nearly beat under avery without lopez. the spurs embarassed us.

I agree with everything in the quoted text. i think PJ certainly is creating more of an atmosphere of accountability instead of an atmosphere of blame. and his on court changes are clearly ones we have been clamoring for.

that said, the 3 wins im taking with a grain of salt. lets see how we finish out the month.

I was pumped up about this last night on Twitter, that he actually started getting in asses after a couple mistakes, something I hadn't seen Avery do to anyone but the super young guys and Hump.

Also, gasp, we're actually running some pick and roll and a ton of motion.

And that's something we discussed here since the beginning, that even if you iso, it doesn't mean the rest of the players are supposed to stand statue still in place, they should be moving all over the court but with wide open spacing and only motioning in specific areas in order to not draw help defenders to the iso side and that is what has been happening on our isos.

When that happens an iso isn't so much of an iso anymore, especially so when our main iso player, Joe Johnson, is such a good passer, meaning he can pick his spots while actually mid iso play.

The big difference in that coach year 1, is if you're actually friends with your coach or you're just friendly with the coach...don't get me wrong, if you have a coach for 10 years, won championships, etc...you're obviously going to develop some sort of friendship...but in that situation, the ability to keep a professional relationship separate from the friendship and the job you are both trying to accomplish is very important to the success...

Bowen: We see MarShon Brooks getting an opportunity to play a lot more and I love the fact that he's getting more of an opportunity because that's the only way you learn to play in this game. You don't learn by just sitting. You can learn some of the game by just sitting and watching but you really need to be in the mix to have the opportunity to work on certain things, like your defense or a defensive rotation.

Gutierrez: And they have enough to cover for him when necessary. It's not like they're relying on MarShon Brooks when he's in there. He's not that big of a liability. He showed enough last year, I'd say, to deserve some time. You talk about going back to the preseason. He was one of the assets people talked about on that team.

If Carlismo happens to win coach of the month in January, has it ever be done in the history of the NBA for one team/franchise to have two different HC's as coach of the months in the same season?

Yes indeed it was . Last time was done by the .... New Jersey Nets when Byron Scott was CoTM in December of 2003 . Later that Season he was replaced by Lawrence Frank , who won Coach of the Month in February of 2004. Was on Netsdaylie a few days back.
