Does anyone know what exactly happened to Yi a few years ago?

Why were he sent away to Wizard? After all he was 6th pick of the draft and according to his profile he is 7' tall and bodyfat is only 3.4% while his max vertical is 38". He can shoot from downtown and a lot people thought he could be next Nowizki or Garnett. And I remember he used to be rookie of the month.

How come such a player was traded away?

perimeter player on offense, but couldn't consistently hit the J, on defense he got pushed off in the post. If you're going to be skinny, you have to be a shot blocking presence. On offense, if you can't play in the post, you have to hit the J. Plus I remember he wasn't reporting to Chinese national team functions and being a pain for them, that probably doesn't help either. You don't want a problem off the court unless they're making up for it on the court.

I believe there are also rumors about his listed age being a lie.

While Yi was a disappointment it had nothing to do with why he was traded. It was the summer of Lebron. We GAVE him away to max our cap space so that we could make a run at two major free agents.

Because he sucked. Short, concise, but truthful answer.
