Which one is more appealing?

This is tough because Atlanta has speedy guards, and we have trouble guarding fast backcourts however...

I think atlanta is just mentally weaker. I'll take facing atlanta over a defensively great team in the bulls who also have a great head coach. I think their team chemistry is better and they are more likely to play til the end of the game whereas i can see the hawks breaking down.

I'm starting to lean towards the Hawks myself right now. Thing is we'd need Gerald back for sure and in Playoff form in order to get something going.

Edit: That being said I'm still not sure who is actually better for us to play against. I think unless the Bulls choke we will end up playing them. Hawks win one, Bulls lose one and its the Hawks.

Hawks. We will get back in transition in the playoffs.

Hawks. Thibs knows how to defend us, especially with double teams and trapping since we have Gerald Wallace and to a lesser degree, Reggie Evans.

I prefer Atlanta, but I don't fear Chicago. They've underachieved two straight years in the playoffs and I think that tells us something.

I'm leaning towards Chicago. They are a grind-it-out team. I think Atlanta can run us out of the building, and they have Horford who can play good D on Lopez.

i want the bulls.... horford pushes lopez outside and they have the athleticism to kill us in transition even off makes. plus korver owns us and would annoy me to know end drilling 3s all series.

ATL's speed and streaky shooters gives me cause but they are mentally weaker(as halfhavoc mentioned)

Chi is just tough and playoff tested with solid consistent D but they are beatable with or without noah but our Nets just can't finish against them....

Idk.... i can't really go against one much more than other.... problem is, neither team IMO has a real big that negates Lopez. It's just that Lopez allows himself to get jailrape by a Horford, Pachula, Petro, Boozer, Gibson etc.....

Lopez needs to play big and close to the rim..... that being said, I go with ATL....

Honestly it shouldn't have taken this long for someone to get into his head and put him on blast..... he plays so far from the rim its annoying as ****.

Bulls are now a half game behind Atlanta for 5th. Hawks will be on TNT tomorrow, so we will get a chance to see how they play against the same Raptors we played a day ago.

If Bulls are even remotely healthy...I hate the matchup for us. I dont care about pace, tempo any of that crap.

Bulls simply show up to play. They are the one team that stars are not the issue. Early in the playoffs they can win on swagger. The one thing we DONT seem to have. I said it in another post.

Sometimes teams find themselves for the first time in the playoffs. Its not a talent issue with us. Bulls will walk their talk. Will we finally do the same?

I really dont think I can agree with that. We have bene tougher mentally of late? We have had trouble beating teams who were resting star players. We have blown massive leads int he second half of games. We have lost games to teams that we should NEVER lose to.

That isnt the mark of being mentally tougher.

I know what you are trying to say. Deron has played better overall of late. Yes, he has. But mentally tougher???? Nah. Cant give you that one.

We under achieved this year. Whether that is just indicative of this year or will be a staple of this incarnation of the Nets is still up for debate but we have fought back in ways we didn't in the first half of the year. D-Will has been competitive the majority of the season post ASG. There are still shades of underlining problems but they there has been marked improvement so I'll give the team credit for that.

Yes shades. Variations of season long issues varying in form and severity. Our inconsistency provides an unpredictable nature that we aren't entirely sure is a permanent fixture of the Brooklyn Nets or just this year's problems we can improve upon. It is both the reason that we can be hopeful for and doubt a winning in the first round. I don't think its homerism to walk into a Playoff series with a guarded hopeful ambivalence because of that. We have been getting better albeit with a fair share of painful bumps and disappointments. Is this going to be a rocky ride as we reach our maximum potential over the next couple years or is this it now? I want to be optimistic about it.
