Nets have talked to the
Cavs about acquiring CJ Miles for
the No. 22 pick.
This would explain why Marshon is being shopped for a pick.

no it wouldnt.
nets have been shopping brooks for a pick for over a year now. they'd love to get a first for him regardless of this deal.
speaking of this deal, it makes me want to vomit.

This is such a Billy King type of deal. Potentially get decent value by getting a 1st round pick for Brooks and then go and spunk the 22nd overall pick on a streaky shooter who has never done much of anything.
GTFO Billy King.

Disgusting if we trade our 22 pick for Miles. After all this talk and hype over who we might draft. Only way I'm OK with losing this pick is if it goes to Boston in KG deal.

Lol. I knew this rumor would receive negative reactions from the board. Fans just love the idea of untapped potential over proven low level mediocrity. And even if you show them that most of the time...late first rounders are either busts or become CJ Miles, Marshon Brooks type of guys...they still want to swing for the fences and hope we find the next Tony Parker. And I get that. I really do.
But I just cant get excited about a pick outside of the lottery anymore. Want to know why?
Nets Non-lotto first round picks since 2002:
#27 JaJuan Johnson
#24 Damion James
#17 Sean Williams
#22 Marcus Williams
#23 Josh Boone
#24 Hassan Adams
#22 Viktor Khryapa
#23 Christian Drejer
#22 Zoran Planinić
#24 Nenad Krstić
#25 Tamar Slay
This list is what you should expect. Not lets pick out the rare success story.
I of course didnt include prospects we traded for...or the three lottery picks we made in the last decade:
One TBD, one bust and one all star pick who half this board hates anyway....
#3 Derrick Favors
#11 Terrance Williams
#10 Brook Lopez
King is going to do whatever he is going to do. More than 95% the upside of this pick is some NBA journeyman. Just take it in stride.

CJ Miles is a bad basketball player and that is why this deal will infuriate me if it happens.
Trade the 22nd overall pick for CJ Miles? CJ... Miles?!
He's a vet min spot player who's been getting minutes by default for years, he's horribly inefficient most years, a streak shooter, has no interest in playing D, is a chucker who goes into MJ mode whenever the mood strikes and has a low BBIQ.
In other words... a Billy King player.
CJ Miles is a bad basketball player and crowds the wing, with another bad basketball player. You trade the 22nd pick for that?
I really hope this is just a rumor with little smoke and nearly no flame.
This might be it for me and I really mean that, I've hit my breaking point. If King f*cks this draft up like I think he's going to I don't know if I can keep dedicating my time, energy and money to such a mismanaged franchise.
I don't expect to keep all the picks we get or maybe any picks. I don't even care if we land a rookie. There are already way too many projects on this roster, especially for a win now team. We need to focus on 2 of them, whether it's Toko, a rookie, Taylor, Bogs, etc., it just needs to be two of them and combine the rest in a move.
But what I won't continue to accept is to root for and be stressed and disgusted with brand loyalty if they keep being ran like Isiah's Knix.
You may say, VC, chill out, it's just a late pick in a middling draft, but that's not the point.
CJ Miles is garbage and would literally get only a handful of guaranteed veteran minimum offers if he were a free agent, he's that bad. He would get signed, but unless it was a horrific bottom 5 lotto team he wouldn't be a rotation player, only an 8mpg spot player with a ton of CD-DNP's.
The misuse of assets here would be astounding, right on a microcosmic level of the Wallace trade.
Gross.

You ain't got not problem, VC. I'm on the motherf***er. Go back to RealGM posting and chill them n****rs out, and wait for Jason Kidd who should be coming directly.

CJ Miles sucks he just had that one really good game against us and a couple more good ones.
Does Billy King only watch tape vs the Nets?

Marshon has no place to go but up. The more you shop him the less his value would be.
Let him ride out this upcoming year and see if he improves.

CJ is horrifically bad. Take it from me, I had to watch him for seven years...

He is a good defender, though (I'm reading through some of the comments). That's about his only redeeming quality...well, that and the fact that he has one good game every seven.

Sam Amico @SamAmicoFSO
Also, Cavs-Nets-Wolves three-way deal involving CJ Miles, Brooks and picks Nos. 22 and 26 very real. Or just 22 for Miles.
God no. Just keep 22 and let Cleveland have 26.

While I think CJ for Marshon trade is essentially a sideways move, I still think if there was a better deal for Marshon I'd do it.
Right now his best asset is his ceiling and with the present roster that's constructed to win now the team can't bank on a player's "ceiling" alone. If Marshon is part of a deal that would net us a known commodity such as KG then I'm all for it.

I'm pretty sure this is another one of those BK asking D-Will about a player and because said player is D-Will's friend, D-Will has a much greater desire to bring him on the team.
BK probably remembers this game and thought 'wow, getting CJ would add another elite scorer' lol:

It's not about keeping the pick, it's about using the pick in a trade that improves the roster.
This does not. It's inexplicable, and it seems like another move to please Deron. Another move that will yield mediocrity.
Trading for Deron Williams was a double edged blade. This guy gives the franchise a "star" (who didn't even make the all star or all nba teams) to sell the team with, yet all the decisions made to appease him have been GOD AWFUL. Gerald Wallace (which he wisely washed his hands of), Joe Johnson, now CJ Miles. There's no need to appease Deron anymore, he's being paid handsomely. He needs to start appeasing the Nets, by playing elite level basketball in the regular and post season, and being a leader who doesn't disappear like he did against the Bulls.
When you talk about trading him for someone like John Wall, I totally understand.
