I'm glad we're not wasting time like LAL putting up billboards and promising TV shows to make him stay.
This the national basketball association for crying out loud. If you're winning a player over because of a TV deal, the player you're coveting isn't a true winner.
I agree. All I see when I look at this guy is that he has screwed every single team that has had anything to do with him so far. Orlando, Nets, Philly (Bynum) and soon LA. I guess Denver made out OK by facilitating the trade. It makes any of the nonsense hate thrown at LBJ who did 6 interviews in 3 days and picked one team on the 10th of July seem absurd. Sure...the decision interview was terrible. But I take LBJ and him taking less cash after 8 years and keeping his mouth shut for a year over the INDECISION any day of the week.
Now. Having said all of that? Let De-wight go back to LA and offer them a chance to sign him to a max contract with a no trade clause and an opt out after year one with the mandate to trade him December 15th to the Nets for Lopez? I would still say..come on in!
Nets send Lopez+ for De-wight and MWP.
Explanation:
The no trade is to prevent them from getting cute and trying to find a better deal elsewhere.
The opt out is to prevent them from saying screw you...no trade you singed too bad.
The max contract is to protect him from injury.
The wait until December 15th gets around the S&T issue with teams over the Apron.
Obviously...this is all dependent on the Nets still WANTING him.
And, call me crazy...but I can see LA preferring this idea to just letting him walk or taking a package for an S&T from one of the Western Conference team's in the mix right now.
