Nets Throwback Thursday: Keith Van Horn!

The Nets facebook page is doing a feature called "Throwback Thursday," and this Thursday's subject is old KVH.
What are your thoughts and memories of Keith?
He had a bad rep for not being very clutch, but I think his presence was really underrated on the '02 team. We lacked shooting the next year after we shipped him for Deke. Keith also got his share of rebounds and could play multiple positions.
Just for fun, here's his Scouting Report from the 1997 Draft:
Keith Van Horn has great size to be an NBA small forward (6'9", 230 lbs.)
and the rebounding and shot blocking skills to give some time at the 4 spot.
Many have drawn comparisons to Larry Bird. I don't feel he's as talented as
Bird was but he definitely has the potential. His all around game would be a
valuable asset to any team. He has proven in his four years at Utahthat he
is a great leader by taking them to the NCAA' tounament four times. I feel
that if Tim Duncan were not in this draft that he would be the first one
selected and even though Duncan is don't look for him to go any lower than 2
or 3.

He is the reason why I started watching the Nets and paying attention to the NBA. Huge influence on me and my passion for basketball.
I was hoping to see a Brooklyn Nets uniform with 44 and Van Horn on the back!

Crazily enough, one of my favorite Nets. I still find myself raising my arms up after hitting a 3. A lot of people talk about Kidd during that Game 5 against the Pacers (and rightfully so), but KVH was huge behind the perimeter. Loved him for the most part in that Boston series and most of his time as a Net, even though Marbury didn't feel the same.
That entire first Finals run though, every time he shot, that high arc became a huge build up to a thunderous roar.

Ive been a big fan of Van Horn ever since he played in Utah with Doleac, Andre Miller and Hano Matolla.
I think he got a raw deal as a Net. It was obvious that Kenyon didnt like him and he called him out in the Finals.
Karma came back a bit Kenyon in the ass when Duncan sh*t all over him in game 6 the next year.

One of my favorite phrases... "Everybody do the Keith Van Horn!"... said emphatically and with a touch of singing tone to it while throwing ones arms in the air with a little wiggle, great for football Sundays(or Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and great for drunken white guy "Awww Yeahhhhh!!!!" dancing when a guiltily bad pop song graces the airwaves in a group setting.

Yeah, Byron Scott refused to play Mutombo, after we gave up Van Horn and MacCulloch to get him.
Thanks for that Byron.
Oh, after that though, Van Horn stopped playing and just started getting traded constantly. It was cool after awhile, I'm pretty sure at one point the Nets even got him back. I deemed him the official currency of the NBA.

Just wondering if that was the majority opinion for folks on this board back then.
I sort of recall many people back then stating Mutumbo didn't fit in. I sort of was of the opinion that to have a chance against the Spurs that the Nets needed a "critical mass" of basketball talent to win the series, that without Mutumbo they had the proverbial two chances and that somehow they should have eased him into the lineup the last few games of the season.
