Adam Silver wouldn't comment on Jason Kidd's possible suspension but said they had a standard (two games) for DUIs.

How embaressing on TNT when the announcers talk about why the head coach isn't there.

Mike Budenholzer will/should be suspended as well for his DUI.

At least the franchise knows Kidd and while it's embarrassing, they embrace him.

Budenholzer is a complete new hire for the Hawks and has no prior affiliation with them. Talk about making a first impression.

Btw, until it's confirmed that he's suspended, you should change the title cuz it's a little misleading.

Its not surprising. It sucks we won't have him for our first game against the Heat but I think Frank can hold down the fort.

Silver didn't want to talk about it at the NYASG 2015 press conference but he said there's a 2 game suspension.
It would look bad if he said that then chose to give Kidd a pass but I see your point.

If Kidd had killed some innocent bystander, it would have been a 4 game suspension.

its irrelevant. frank is this team coach for all intents and purposes. kidd is more pr and leadership then anything. and with kg and pierce here now he isnt really needed for that

1:22 mark... thats the part i mentioned in the training camp thread yestarday. great coaching. frank coaching away bad habits with little things like that. doesnt show up in the box score, might not even show up with an eyeball test. but a huge nuance and likely makes a big difference in team defense.

I still can't believe he's our head coach.

That sucks, he's a valuable assistant for Frank.

Think of it as a similar setup as Byron Scott, only better because Kidd is truly liked by NBA players...I believe Kidd will put his stamp on this team as a true connection between players and coaches...the communication line between both will be second to none...if there is a question or issue from a player, you know it will be relayed (you already saw Deron make some suggestions to Kidd during the live training camp)...and it is great to see the comfort level of that sort of back and forth...not that it hasn't existed w/ other coaches' open door policy, but eventually we know there is a line.

The real coach...well, we all get it.

But how many times do coaches like Frank or anyone similar (X's & O's coach) get ignored eventually with players putting the head coach on mute and the approach-ability declining after 25% of the season due to lack of execution or frustration from the head coach w/ mistakes where it tends to wear on that relationship between player and coach. Just look at last season.

Kidd will put his mark on this team one way or another, no matter how much coaching he actually does in practice, his on the court experience w/ executing an offense or MAN-ing up on D is where he will get it done...being called out by Kidd during a game is a little different than being called out by Frank...I think the weight that Kidd will carry with players and what they need to get done can ultimately be the glue that makes this team fit...

Yes, throw in KG and PP, and your chemistry should be that much better...

I get the marketing tool and PR angle of Kidd and the Nets, but his value is way beyond the front which some of you only see...coaching and laying down the foundation of an offense and defense is obviously extremely important...but how it is implemented and the manner it is done in games will be very significant...

I am very curious, although I can imagine asst. coaches calling out plays and observations to the players, how big will Kidd's voice be from the sideline, in the huddle and in the locker room....that to me is where you will be able to quantify Kidd as the head coach...

And I have no problem saying it remains to be seen...however, you just cannot belittle Kidd as the head coach right now...the coaching system with this team is more complicated than that and his leadership and voice is what matters early on.

+1 to all this....

basically, this team runs like an NFL team not an NBA team. you have an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator who are doing all the teaching/coaching/playdesign/game planning and then you have the head coach(kidd) who is more of a motivator/communicator and the guy who calls the shots on game day.

its unique, but no reason it cant work

The nets will regret hiring him. Yes the news made a big splash and exited us nets fans but when the going gets tough and we are deep in the playoffs Kidd is going to be clueless and useless
