^^I've enjoyed every one of these previews thus far and was not disappointed by this one. Seems like they really like this team and the only question mark for them was Deron Williams fitting in with KG/Pierce for some reason.

Surprisingly no, he gushes and really thinks this team has a shot.

Reactions:

1. Jalen & Bill rank the Nets at 7 overall & 4 in the East. Nets are 2 in the East - although DRose is looking scary good.

2. I now officially like Simmons again. He voted for the Truth as Third Team All Pro last season - & based on his simply spectacular play after the ASG, he SURE AS **** WAS. They predict a mega-efficient season for PP in that he is now playing with the most elite by eons "post-playing" big he has ever played with & the best point he has ever played with. DWill can actually shoot the freaking ball from anywhere, is built like a truck & makes FTs.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

The opening was hilarious with "fanbase mindset" of Nets fans on a beach drinking champagne with rich people and then saying we went from the streets to paradise and taking a shot at the Knicks by saying we "traded places" with them....Which will not go over well with them considering he gave them a positive review.

The Grantland Goldsberry graphic of Brook, KG, Paul, Joe's sweet spots and efficiency was pretty scary. They all compliment each other to a tee. I don't know if Billy King knew that when he began attempting to acquire KG and Pierce but I'd like to hope he did or else he really got seriously lucky.

I won't ever understand Bill's petty and immature hate towards Deron. It isn't even constructive criticism. He tries to blame the entire Noah Game 7 performance on Deron's shoulders despite the fact, he showed up and everyone else did not. Then, Jalen Rose corrects him by admitting it falls on everyone's shoulders. Then, Bill says he thinks Deron's personality with KG/PP might clash but then accidentally slips "KG will be playing with a PG he doesn't hate" by basically ADMITTING Rondo did indeed clash with his teammates at times. Which I simply don't get since these previews were done during pre-season, so we already have established Deron wanted KG and PP to take over "his team" as Bill put it.

I also liked the fact, he acknowledged the fact the Spurs had the identity of the Nets with how they treated Duncan. Which goes hilariously unnoticed considering Duncan and Garnett were pretty similar on both ends throughout the season.

Really liked the review. Simmons could be the best analyst in the business if he made himself a bit more professional and took things less personal. He pretty much covered everything nicely.

Agreed I feel like the only reason we are ranked this low is because of the stigma NBA fans has us in their expectations. I think they are just putting us this low in the rankings in order to keep that credibility they need for every fans in general. I feel they believe we are the true contenders that will go against Miami this year. I love Bill Simmons' input into this previews because he goes deep into the nitty gritty of what should be looked at instead of so many people look just looking at numbers. I think what they meant about Williams is how he will react to the situation since he is second in command being the leader of the team. I think us Nets fans know that this is already not a problem. I think Williams already knows his place into this team which is just to big part of the team. I don't think he is looking to be that big leader that most people expect him to be because of his capabilities of being the best PG in the NBA.

To add those shot charts is ridiculous. Every single player in our starter roster has red in every area of the court. I thought JJ and PP will have the same area on where they score but, they shoot well in a completely different area on the court which is such a positive because IMO I thought those 2 players will have the worst time adjusting just from the sole fact that they bring the same tools in the court.

That was pretty cool.

You can tell by their expressions at the end that they think we'll be higher than #7 when it's all said and done, but for now they're content with #7 as a conservative preseason prediction.

I like how Simmons says "sounds like we're both higher on the Nets than their #7 ranking," when he's the one who gave them the ranking.

Simmons is so much better when he does informal stuff like this and can be humorous and biased. I don't like him much on ESPN. But, he obviously is only being nice to us because we have PP and KG. I'm sure he'll go back to dumping on us when they are gone, unless we get them a ring or two.

Do we know who's left to be 1-7?

In the East, I can see us finishing us anywhere #1-#4 since Miami, Indy, Bk and Chicago are that good.
Right now, I'm leaning towards:

Miami - 65ish wins
Chicago - 60ish wins
BK and Indy - 55ish wins.

Rose has me sold. I didn't think he'd look this good, this soon and I thought Thibs would be resting his players more, but he's got them playing 30+ minutes in the preseason already.

Also, it seems the Nets are going to have guys in suits a lot. KG will miss at least 20 games because of back to backs, plus another 10 with minor injuries. 50 games + the playoffs is what I'm expecting. AK is going to miss at least 15-20 games and if D.Williams has any ankle injuries, they are going to sit him extended time periods. I don't think it will impact us for the playoffs, but I do think it may cost us a chance at a top 2 seed.

Like TJ said, Simmons is really high on us only because of KG & Pierce. I liked the positivity in the preview but I would have preferred if they didn't spend the majority of the time talking about KG & Pierce (along with Simmons' bitterness towards Deron). I don't agree with Simmons' prediction that Pierce is going to have a "monster year" simply because he's not going to be scoring more than 15 PPG imo. Also the Lopez rebounding criticism was kinda off. Would have liked to see them go more in depth with the bench. I liked that Jalen singled out Livingston as a big off season acquisition.

A. You mean after Paul & Kevin get the Nets a ring or two. :0). Actually, we both are correct.

B. Top 7 in no particular order: Nets, Heat, Bulls, Pacers, Thunder, Spurs, Clippers

C. Rose & CP3 will be the best points in the NBA this year - hopefully followed closely by Deron. Rose is better than CP3. He can shoot now also. Unbelievable transcendant talent.

D. Agreed.

He said 18 PPG & "monster" efficiency - even better than 48.5% overall FG% & 61% TS% after the ASG last season. I agree with the efficiency - but he may only average 15 PPG because there are so many studs sharing FGAs & Paul is so unselfish.

KG resisted the idea that he'd rest on every back to back pretty fiercely, I don't see him actually missing 20 games there.
