Very slim hope for Deron to play. I really hope he's feeling well when they check him this morning, I want to see him play a few minutes in this last preseason game. Get past some of the mental hurdles.

I rather him not play. I'm to skeptical about him coming out after one full practice. It's only preseason not serious.

I'd rather him sit out tonite and against the Cavs. if you do that you give him 6 days to rest, and you can keep him in brooklyn and not have him fly to cleveland for that road game. then play him 12-15 minutes against miami and ramp him up closer to 30 against orlando and if he responds well insert him back in full time.

i dont see the need to risk playing him in meaningless preseason game or rush him back.

People need to understand that it's important to get Deron on the floor (ASSUMING he's HEALTHY), not just to develop chemistry but to get him into game shape quicker and in good playing form. If he is able to play 10-15 minutes tonight, there's no reason not to. If we start him opening day or at home against the Heat, that's likely to be more difficult for him, having not played a single minute of preseason against NBA competition. Playing tonight will help him more than most people seem to think.

#Nets say Deron is a game time decision tonight vs #Heat. Unless he has a setback in shoot around, I’m thinking he’s going to play.

KG has the night off again. Blatche will start.

what is playing 10-15 minutes tonite going to do for him that playing 10-15 minutes in our home opener wouldnt? i see no reason why he cant get into the swing of things in our first few regular season games vs. the last preseason game

he's looked good with our starters... he's looked like a 3 ring circus otherwise. hope that trend continues tonite with him starting.

is dwill starting if he plays?

would like to see some lineups with him/joe/livingston in a 3 gaurd set with dwill at the 2

If Deron is 100% healthy, then he should play. It sounds like he is and that both he and the team were being super cautious with him. I agree with that strategy, and it looks like he's ready to go. No reason to not let him play in the preseason and get SOME chemistry with his teammates.

The reason I would rather have him play his first 15 minutes of game action tonight rather than in the home opener is because this is the last chance for him to work out the rust in a meaningless game. If he's doing that in a RS game, it hurts the team in games that actually count, especially against a team like Miami where we would need to bring our A game.

the thing with me is, i dont think you "shake off rust" in 15 minutes. if there were 3 preseason games left sure, but with 1, id go with health over rust, but i can see the merit in both...

i also dont see us beatng miami either way, so dont have an issue if he is rusty for that one

Well, yeah he won't completely shake off the rust in 1 game, but it would certainly help, especially since the Cleveland game would then be his 2nd game. He would be in much better shape to play well against Miami in the home opener in that case, as opposed to if that was his first game back.

I think we can beat Miami with D-Will. They're the favorites until proven otherwise, but our size can cause some problems for them imo.

miami does struggle with size, but i dont think our size will cause them the same level of issues as say the pacers. Our bigs arent agressive(lopez) and dont play a ton offensively in the paint(KG). I do like blatche against them, he is really agressive and plays with a chip on his shoulder against them...

i mean, on paper, our size should give them tons of trouble, but that hasnt been the case. for whatever reason lopez seems timid vs them and doesnt look to dominate inside. and struggles with how great miami is on the quick double teams.

defensively our height will certainly help us, especially with KG now. i just dont like how we match up offensively. when they trap us we seem to turn it over a ton(transition points for them) and we dont seem willing enough to dominate down low. evne in the preseason game KG had battier on him and didnt try and bully him under the rim

i mean, its not impossible, but im not optimisitc about preventing them from sweeping us again this year

Because regular season counts and tonight doesn't.

exactly, why risk a setback in a game that doesnt count and then not have him for the games that do count.

you dont think we beat the cavs without him?

you think we beat the heat with him?

obviously if you think different on those 2 in changes things.

What's the difference? He could have a setback on Wednesday or Friday. Tonight, he can get into game action with the new lineups and develop an idea of the new offense/defense in game action against a real team.

And yes, we beat the heat with him rather than without him. There is no excuse not to compete and aim to win a home opener against them.

The difference is 8 days rest. an extra week can go along way with a high ankle sprain.

were winning 50-55+ games whether dwill plays the first few games or not. were going nowhere in the playoffs if he is battling/reinjuring his ankle all season long
