The Jason Kidd Thread

Post#1 » by Ronito » Sat Nov 16, 2013 1:59 am

David Thorpe on Jason Kidd:

He gets an F. He gets a 0. My wife could coach a team to a 29th ranking for that team. She doesn't know much about basketball. He just... his guys, I don't think they have any purpose and passion to what they're doing. I think they're discombobulated. Listen, Henry, he was an amazing player, one of my favorite of all time for a lot of different reasons, but our profession is different from his profession, and to assume that that transition is easy, it's a short bridge, is crazy. He has a long way to go to figure this out. Do I think he'll be better? Will they be better? It seems very likely. But as he's currently doing, he's the worst coach in the NBA.

He gets an A tonight.

-He took off his minutes restriction on Garnett
-Forced Brook to be more aggressive
-He did not use Blatche whatsoever down the end of the stretch...unlike a certain guy by the name of PJ
-He stayed engaged on the sidelines and It seemed to get the guys going
-He got them to come out with energy in that 3rd quarter
-He took out Terry for Tyshawn to matchup with the Sun's speedy guards for a spurt and it worked
-He used Mirza to matchup with the stretch 4s of the Suns in spurts

Most importantly, he did not call timeout when he noticed the Suns were not back on defense and told JJ to push it which is how he got that shot off in time.

I cannot complain whatsoever with his decision making tonight but it's obvious he has alot to work on and that includes his staff which continue to get a pass and I have no clue why. Our halfcourt offense with the starters is putrid and the team recorded 5 assists total tonight which is just pathetic.

I thought he coached a hell of a game last night in the 2nd half and finally asserted himself. I also saw some fire and emotion from him.

It's a learning process. He needs to watch the film and gear everything towards getting Lopez going first to open up the game for the other pieces. Right now, take things one game at a time, get out of this hole in the win/loss column, and continue to figure out what works and what doesn't

Pick and roll with Lopez should be the #1 play on offense. Brook is better getting the ball off of movement instead of trying to wait and post up, he rarely gets solid position in the post.

I think he ends up resigning, honestly. He's in over his head.

He doesn't coach lol Lawrence frank coached one hell of a game last night. Jason Kidd just tries to motivate

Frank works on the defense. Welch works on the offense.

Who's idea was it to insert Mirza? Kidd. Who's idea was it to take out Tyshawn and Shaun? Kidd. Who's idea was it to bench Reggie? Kidd.

I've been critical of Kidd but he's done a good job these last two games. His ablity to find production off the end of the bench consistently is a major factor of coaching.

Um yeah right...

And how do you know those were his ideas? You're not sitting next to them on the bench. For all we know Lawrence could have told him to insert Mirza or whatever.

You're reaching now. He has control of rotations. Nobody made him bench Reggie or play Mirza and give Mason a chance.

He deserves credit where it's due.

It appears that the circus has left New Jersey, only to set up shop in Brooklyn.

Kidd is the perfect hire. If we're going to lose, at least be entertaining while doing so.

Love Kidd, He has been in 14 games and already has been suspended for 2 games and fined $50k.

It might be worth the 50k for him to spill again if we are desperate for a timeout.

That's Jason Kidd the night he decided to wrap his car around a tree at high speed while out of his mind on drink.
