“He doesn’t do anything,” said the scout, who has watched the Nets several times. “He doesn’t make calls. John Welch does all the offense. Lawrence does all the defense. … I don’t know what Kidd does. I don’t think you can grade him and say he’s bad. You can give him an incomplete.”

pretty much what weve been saying... he doesnt do anything. im fine with him having 0 input on the x's and o's. but at least be a leader and try and motivate guys and control the flow of the game.

yeah. It's funny to read but I prefer that he just try to motivate and lead these slobs and leave the dirty work to Welch and Frank. I like Welch

Awful PR hire. This is the main reason this team will never go anywhere. Don't fool yourselves into thinking Opie is anything better then an average coach either, let alone the rest of those nobodies on the assistant staff.

Should have went with Shaw or even Karl. Larry Brown would have been a good fit in all likelihood.

i think Lionel Hollins is the perfect coach for this team, he will put the Nets horrible defense in place. Kidd is useless, even his clapping annoys me  .

Never thought it would be this bad. It's crazy to think how quickly Avery was fired last year even with a .500 record (but we all saw it coming and prayed for it).... what the heck is this team going to do?

most likely... nothing. the most likely trajectory from here on out is:

- more struggles
- a slight correct with health
-.600 play for the remainder of the season, putting us at 45-ish wins
- a 5-8 seed
- a first round exit

i dont see us playing the .700-.750 ball the rest of the year, which is what it would take to get to 50-55 wins.

In the offseason it will be:

"we need to add youth, we have some young guys(plumlee) who we liked and we think we can develop."
"it was year 1 with this team, we knew it was a small window and a gamble."
"it was jasons first year, its a process, he got better, he will continue to get better"
"Thats up to kevin(on if he will retire). obviously we would love him back but its ultimately his decison"
"We just feel we needed to get more athletic on the wings(on letting pierce walk in free agency)"
"We have some picks, and we can always make moves ond raft day, weve been active on draft day in the past(regarding having no picks to rebuild."
"He hasnt been healthy, he rushed back because of paul and kevin and our small window, in hindsight maybe that wasnt the best choice, but dwill should be healthy next season."

And really, thats whats going to happen. we arent going to be a 25 win team. but we likely arent really gonna finish much better then last year after digging this hole. we arent going to play .750 ball the rest of the way. we probably get in the 45-50 win area like last season.... and all the excuses above will be used. our only real hope is somehow playing the pacers or maybe hawks in round 1 as we can beat those teams as a lower seed.

Outsider POV: he looks lost, a bit over his head. I think he is trying to learn on the fly but at some point he's gotta take command. He's just gotta do what he did as a player and not overthink it so much. He's doubting himself.

thats irrelevant. he doesnt need to coach. we have real coaches on the bench to coach. he just needs to lead and motivate. there is no learning there. he is just checked out and riding coat tails as the puppet he was brought in to be

There is the thing going unoticed: Those real coaches on the bench aren't any good either.

John Welch's Denver Nuggets offense is not working. Frank's complicated defense is not working.

He was brought in because he was an excellent leader as a player not to be a puppet.

What do you expect from a guy who never coached before ?

Kidd is not the problem...We need a healthy Deron, Lopez and AK out on the court.

In all honestly, Kidd's "it's a process" mentality is the cause of some of this.

We lost at Cleveland to open the season, Brook calls the Miami home opener a statement game and Kidd says "if it's a statement game, you are missing the process"

Low and behold, the entire team played with urgency and made it a statement game.

Ever since then, we haven't seen the ball movement, the same level of urgency, Garnett/Lopez Hi-Low is nowhere to be found after exploiting Miami and now we have lost winnable games and everyone's post game comments were "well, it's a process...it's early we will get it together"

And now we are 3-8 with losses to Orlando, Washington, Sacramento with a healthy roster.

At what point does Kidd come out and demand urgency as a coach/leader?

The overconfidence from this team is why they are in this situation. We haven't seen NO progress and the injuries have piled up.

So, at what point does the 'process' crap ends before someone realizes we aren't cakewalking to the playoffs?

Knicks fan in peace. I never understood the Kidd hire as head coach. I don't think nets record would be this bad with a proven head coach.

Also the other thing is nets and Knicks put themselves in a big hole in the Atlantic division and at best nets gets a 4th seed. Also if nets don't get past first round or not make ecf who takes the hit for the nets?king?Kidd?

i think the "its early" stuff is off base as well. we have 8 losses. if we want home court in round 1 we need to go like 47 -24 the rest of the way. thats really high level ball that im not sure we can play with injuries and needing to turn things around.

the time to be concerned is right now

I actually agree with this.

The part that infuriates me about Kidd is that we all know that he's way smarter than what he's showing right now.

Unless seeing the floor as a PG is completely different from coaching, I just don't see how he could go from having one of the highest BBIQs during his playing days to an airhead coach.

I still believe he knows the game and knows how it should be played.

The problem is that he's deferring to assistant coaches who have never really had success as head coaches.

I don't care if he's inexperienced. If he sees something wrong, he should go in and fix it if he sees something. It seems like he's either just waiting til he 'pays his dues' in order to assert himself or he really has just lost any sense of understanding of how to lead during the game.

It's so embarrassing to see him on the sideline not doing a single thing.

If that was going to be his position this year, he should've been hired as an assistant coach and sat for a few years while learning under a real coach. But since he's been hired to be the head coach, he should act like a head coach.

Good news is, we are still somehow 1.5 games from leading the division. All we really have to do is win the division and we are guaranteed either the 4th or 5th seed with HCA. As of right now, there is nobody at that 4th or 5th seed that is going to be a tough matchup so far.

If we somehow can finish this month with a 6-11 that would be pretty great. We lost like really close 3 or 4 games that were winnable, we would have a 7-4 record. It's truly amazing how no matter how bad this team is playing right now, our schedule is so easy. If Kidd gets fired, Deron/Pierce get healthy or just get their heads out of their ass, we could go on a really nice win streak.

December:

Vs Denver
Vs NY
At Milwaukee
Vs Boston
Vs LA Clippers
At Detroit
Vs Philadelphia
Vs Washington
At Philadelphia
Vs Indiana
Vs Chicago
Vs Milwaukee
At Indiana
At San Antonio

The schedule gets extremely difficult towards the end of December but it's only 4 games against contenders and 2 are at home. I'm not trying to disrespect the Clippers either but we matchup well with them.

So, If this team can just win atleast 3-4 in a row this upcoming week, they can put themselves in position to go on a potential tear next month.

6-11 is pretty great for a team with this payroll and a team that was supposed to compete for a championship? Really? And almost every team in the NBA is a tough matchup for us at the moment. How van you say there is no one in the 4th/5th seed that's a tough matchup. Even if we somehow do win the Atlantic and beat the fifth seed, we will be embarrassed by Indiana or Miami. This season is going to be a let down no matter what unless you're happy with a 2nd round playoff team

its hard for me to look at the schedule with optomism while we are not only losing but getting blown out by bad teams. im sure we will play well at some point, just hard to be confident until we win 3 in a row
