Will no longer be on the bench during the games or conduct practice.

Discuss.

This doesn't make much sense. Take away a coach who actually has experience, only to give the Head Coach with no experience more responsibility. Makes sense.

So let me get this straight.

Kidd was given the job on the basis he gets a bunch of top assistant coaches who have been head coaches in the NBA before to show him the ropes. Kidd ends up only being able to convince Frank to join the staff after some time.

Then after a poor start Kidd removes him from the coaching staff leaving zero head coaching experience on the bench now apart from Kidd and his 15 games where he wasn't even in charge, Frank was.

Yeh, I'd say im concerned now.....

Basically put Frank on gardening leave, what a joke

I'm not going to criticize this move until we learn what responsibilities frank had to begin with.

Wasn't he suppose to be the defensive coordinator? We're dead last in Defensive rating.

Maybe Frank was part of the problem the team is desperately trying to fix? :dontknow:

Kidd says "there will only be assistant coaches and no more offense/defense assistant coaches"

Translation: I'm taking full control of everything.

I like it if this means kidd is solely running the show.

Frank prob wanted out after the whole cup incident anyway. His face was priceless.

This would be the most hilarious thing ever if this turns the team's fortunes way up.

It really would be BUT he would never have got near an interview if this is how things were going to end up.

The man has zero experience as a head coach, this is an insane risk right now. Here's hoping it pays off

I don't know why everyone feels this is a bad thing. the nets have sucked so far with frank as their defensive coach. Their defense is horrible. The offense has not been much better. And in recent games Kidd has started taking over a lot more on the bench.

Lets see how this plays out.

Can we please stop with the old and slow excuse? There is only one older player right now. The team has a ton of young quicker players right now. There is no excuse to be this poor defensively. Especially when KG/Brook are defending well on their own man.

Good. Let's see what he has in full control.

I hope this isn't a distraction for tonight's game.

So our offense has been great and all that jazz so if we improve our defense we're sorted

Why is it just the defense getting the blame here?

Kidd said he has been in total control from day 1 so this record is all down to him then according to him. Even though Frank run all practices basically because Kidd hadn't a bloody clue.

Because It should be. You won't win a thing allowing threes at will. Offense is an issue but not compared to defense.

This is really big. Frank has a great deal of power. This could end up changing the way this team works. For better or worse.

Hopefully this is good. Look, Kidd doesn't have experience. But he was hired for one thing (at least we hope): for his understanding of the game and his instinct. This is a tough situation for Kidd. Early in the season, he was criticized for not "doing anything" and letting Frank run defense and Welch run offense. Now, he wants to run everything and is being criticized for wanting to do so. Can't have it both ways.

I am curious what the differences between the two were. Before it was reported that it was settled, so for them to get split now is huge.

Btw, I hate to pin it on Frank, and we really don't know anything. But let's keep in mind that one of the Nets weaknesses when Frank was our HC was our 2nd half adjustments...or lackthereof.

I have never bought into the idea of defensive and offensive coaches in basketball. Offense and defense are too closely tied. What you do on offense greatly effects the defense.

Plus at the NBA level if you can't coach offense and defense your not going to last long.

Honestly this is good news because things couldn't get worse. I have never been a fan of Frank in the first place.

Frank was officially the defensive coach, and our defense has been dead last in the league thus far. So it seems to me that he wasn't doing his job. Second of all, if he was the de facto coach overall...we've sucked offensively too.

If the first 17 games were a result of Frank's coaching...then good riddance. Maybe we can actually see what Kidd is good for now.
