16/3/3 on 45% FG/56% TS
a couple game winners and the 10 3pointer game as well as being the heavy lifter during the nets 8-1 streak.
i dont think he gets in. and i dont think we get an all-star at all. i think he has a good shot though

If brought it up on 2 separate threads. 3/4 TNT guys picked him last night. I'd say Wall and Stephenson deserve it more.
I'd take him over Derozan and Afflalo as wild cards. Johnson outplayed Afflalo the other day and he's putting up stats on the 2nd worst team in the league. I'm not impressed. Derozan has a lower TS%, turns the ball over more, and scores more simply because jacks up 18 shots a game as opposed to 13 and a half for Johnson.
I think it would be close between Lowry and Johnson. Johnson may benefit from coaches deciding to put only one of Derozan or Lowry not wanting to put 2 Raptors. So in essence they may be taking away votes from one another.

Hard to say. Derozan, Afflalo put up bigger numbers but I'm not sure if their impact is the same. Afflalo especially, since the Magic suck. Derozan is having a career year but he's also a heavy usage player, and it can be argued that Lowry has been the better player instead. Stephenson is having a really good year, but he has much better teammates and system around him. JJ has a good shot, especially since coaches have liked him a lot in the past.

Just imagine if JJ was playing 4th quarters.
I think he's got a shot at being a reserve honestly, whether we think he deserves it or not. He is one of the big reasons as to why we've turned it around in 2014 (the other being KG's defense). He is taking over games and establishes the lead for us. Other coaches have to gameplan on how to lock him down and stop him from getting hot, b/c it can be over before you know it. He shows up in the big moments at the end of games, has a good reputation around the league, and has had some moments of brilliance this season (Philly game 3rd quarter, dueling Lebron in the first quarter of the Miami game). He's also proved his versatility by sliding over to the 3 and still playing very well. He DOES deserve it.
If I had to guess the reserve guards, it would be Wall, Johnson, and either Derozan or Stevenson.

I say he deserves to go but it wouldn't be a crime if he didn't get picked.
That said, I'd prefer the Nets use the break to rest. We're trying to get that third seed.

Agreed, i hope the guys don't even travel to New Orleans to watch the game. Just rest up and gun for that third seed.

I don't know if its really a crime if he doesn't get in, he's been good this year and i have a feeling he will sneak in but a guy like Derozan they might put in the ASG just cause hes young, athletic, and put up some big scoring games. I think toronto gets 1 allstar

Joe Johnson has been good for the last 10-12 games, thats it. How does he deserve a spot? His season numbers aren't even that great.
The lack of real all-star caliber players in the east is alarming. 7-8 years ago, a starting SG with Johnson's current numbers/season, on a team below .500, would be conisdered a joke if you bought his name up for an all-star appearance.
Can somebody explain to me how is 16/3/3 all-star numbers?

You posed a question that you answered in the first sentence of your 2nd paragraph.
In what other year would a guy on a 12-33 team, 2nd worst in the league, be considered for an All Star spot? - Afflalo
In what other year would an inefficient shooter like Derozan be considered for an All Star spot?
In a normal year Johnson is not in the conversation, but in a historically bad year he belongs in the conversation. I don't think it would be some great tragedy if he made it or he failed to make it.
None of these guys would even be considered in the West, but it is what is.

Demar is also averaging almost 5 boards and 4 assists per game, he is not only an inefficient scorer anymore, he is mediocre at other stuff too now

He really didn't deserve the spot though, and I can understand the frustration other fans are feeling...if your team's player deserves it, and they give it to someone else for obscure reasons, then yeah, you'll be annoyed.
I think at minimum, Lowry deserved it over Johnson for sure. I would probably go with Lance Stephenson over Johnson too.

He hasn't deserved it after his recent mini slump though, it depends on how you look at it. I don't know when the coaches voted but it's possible that it was right after his hot streak. Besides Joe has always been highly respected by coaches because even though his numbers aren't anything special, coaches do have to gameplan for him. For example, Joe has been getting doubled a lot lately (part of the reason for his mini slump), especially in the post.

i think when you look at Joe, you have to also consider he played on a team that has had 4 or 5 legit scoring options on the team this year. not many other players are on a team with 4 guys who can and have dropped 15-20+ ppg the prior season. so that cut into his numbers...
and once injuries hit, and his role increased, so did his numbers.... drastically. he carried us offensively. and hit some game winners.
id have gone with stpehenson, but i dont think its some outrage jj made it
