Alan Anderson Appreciation Thread

Is there anything this guy doesn't do for our team?
He gets the toughest defensive assignments, he knocks down open shots, he can take it off the dribble and drive to the basket (and finish inside), can finish on the break....
and he runs the point cause jason terry can't dribble (I don't know how hes gotten this far with such bad handles).
Also lets not forget, he bails our team out during offensive dry spells (he's no joe johnson) but he always hits critical shots, including off the dribble with the shot clock winding down.
I think he has been one of the best bright spots of this team along with shaun livingston.

i've been the guys biggest fan and supporter on here since we aquired him. the guy plays his butt off and we dont have alot of guys like that. LOVED how this team has played we he and livingston were starters.
i think he is similar to blatche in that if you put him in spots to succeed, he will. and if you dont, it will get erratic. i dont like him at the PG spot. but playing next to sdot or dwill he is a very solid role player. and when he sets his feet and shoots he has a really nice stroke.
love that signing. hope he gets back to starting with dwill leading hte second unit

He's been great for this team all season of course there will be those people who thinks AA is the type of player that needs to be going off every game and will demand him to be benched when he goes 0-7 one night.

Anderson is a dime a dozen scrub. He isn't particularly good at anything, he can play some decent defense, especially on the ball, but he's wildly inconsistent on offense, there's been a couple games where he's got the hot hand but his shot selection can get really bad at times & his shooting percentages for the season are pretty mediocre to say the least (.402 FG, .346 3-PT FG), & he brings very little in terms of rebounding or playmaking.

he isnt really, especially on this team. hustle/energy player who is skilled with and without the ball, equally comfortable with high and low volume and keeps every possesion of the game on both ends.
there are tons of better shooters, better defenders. but those guys dont always fit. anderson is a role guy, you need role guys who fit into inconsistent minutes, shot attempts, and situations and he does that
the game is more then a collection of players stats and skillsets. there is a reason we played better with anderson starting as opposed to williams

You have to be kidding? For a role player hes great. He plays better perimeter defense than anyone else on this team, yeah he's had some shooting slumps but he hits shots when they matter...there have been COUNTLESS times where he has hit huge buckets in the 4th quarter during offensive droughts. He does a little bit of everything, a jack of all trades, hes not the greatest playmaker but for a guy coming off your bench him and AK make some great passes together.
Also Prok, I don't know if hes necessarily like blatche, i think his BBall IQ is much higher and hes only erratic in the 2nd unit sometimes because hes literally the only ball handler and scorer and guy that can score on his own. I think its more of like asking him to do too much with the 2nd unit, if terry steps up offensively then itll be better.

He's been better than I expected him to be... It's still unfortunate that he is forced to play so many minutes though.

I think he's the perfect roleplayer for us. When we're healthy, he fits seamlessly in the 1st and 2nd unit.
When he plays next to Deron/JJ, he literally just has to hit corner 3s or attack closeouts (which he does surprisingly well).
When he plays with AK47/Mirza/Blatche, he might have some ball handling duties, but we're letting AK47 facilitate from the elbow. Mirza also attracts so much attention on PnRs that even AA can run effective ones with him.
He shoots 3s, he drives in when defenders come at him and defends solidly. Can't really ask for more. His only issue is tunnel vision and being slightly undersized for a 3 but when he's playing with good players, it hasn't been a problem.

Never understood the dislike for him. I'm starting to see why Nets fans look ungrateful.
He's been the perfect role player for the vet minimum. Making big shots, defending some really big time players. Who knows where we would be without him holding it down when AK missed 30 games with the back spasms.
Hope we can re-sign him somehow.

I think he has been great value for what he is being paid, and we have definitely asked too much of him. He was the last off season addition to the team, and he wasn't supposed to play so many minutes for us. That being said, he could be a much better role player if he played more smartly. He has zero hesitation when he receives a pass, and I wish sometimes he would just hold off the trigger. He's like the anti JJ in this regard, who hesitates TOO MUCH when he receives the ball. Also, AA has a tendency to make stupid fouls. I appreciate his energy, effort level, and his cheerleading on the bench though, he seems like a fun teammate.

The title should be the Alan Anderson and Shaun Livingston appreciation thread! Both guys have been great given their roles on the team and how each can rise to the occasion when our big players are no where to be found.
I would like to see Deron and JJ split up more with Deron/Anderson playing together and Shaun/Joe playing together. That is if we move away from a small ball lineup.

Weren't you guys playing him a ton of minutes (due to injuries) though?
He knows he can get yanked at any moment for doing stupid stuff so he reined in his ability to chuck. His positives are definitely outweighing his negatives with us.

he is one of my 2 or 3 favorite nets ATM. he plays hard(doesnt seem like much but 80% of our team doesnt), he plays solid defense, and as long as he isnt running the point he is pretty solid offensively. plus i like his toughness and the chip he has on his shoulder

I'll be honest...I liked Keith Bogans better. I feel like he was a better, more disciplined defender, was a comparable shooter, and he didn't chuck as much. He knew his limitations, and thus, he didn't commit the kind of mistakes that Anderson does.
Yes, obviously Anderson has a higher ceiling of play, because sometimes, he gets hot with his jumper and his bad shots end up being makes, but Bogans was the perfect role player imo. He didn't have nearly as many moments where I wanted to strangle him like I do with Anderson.
