All Star Weekend Thread

Mason Plumlee impressed tonight and probably raised his trade value. I hate the fact that Billy King is the Gm of this team, but I have to give him props for the Plumlee pick which I bashed at the time. We drafted one of the better rookies in the 20's, not easy to do.

Predictions:

Terrence Ross Wins Dunk Contest
Kevin Love wins three point shootout
West wins all star game.

I predict that I will not watch the actual farcical game, but that I will watch some of the dunk & 3 point shooting contests.

you dont raise your trade value by getting a bunch of dunks in a game where no one plays defense. getting one of the better rookies in an awful draft with no depth isnt saying much. plumlee is at best a solid bench big at his apex.

people are going crazy over him because he has done ok in blowouts and extremely small stretches. and also because he is the only guy we have who isnt completely unathletic and glued to to the floor....

its similar to reggie evans last season. at the beginning of the year reggie played like 8 or 9 minutes a game and was all over with hustle plays and offensive rebounds and everyone loved him because it helped and we had no other guys who played hard so it stood out. then we expanded his role, he started, and became the most hated net on the team, often scape goated for us sucking

start playing plumlee 20-25 minutes a game and his inability to score outside of garbage points, his poor defense, and his mediocure rebounding would become glaring and people would turn on him(except for the few guys who refuse to believe young nets players arent soon to be stars....)

i mean, think about it, as recently as late last year people were still saying moreshoot bricks had the ability to be a good player

Picks for 3pt shootout and dunk contest?

I got Steph Curry for the 3pt shootout, and Paul George for the dunk contest.

there is no individual winner for the dunk contest. there are new rules its easy vs. west. its pretty lame.

3point ill go with the homer pick and take Joe

I think you read WAY more into his comment than what he was actually stating. (Granted, I can't tell whether you were actually disagreeing with him or just using his post to bring up something that you have been wanting to talk about but hadn't found the right opportunity to discuss it yet.)

No, you don't raise your trade value just by playing in an exhibition game.

However, you do gain exposure and GMs who have been solely focused on their team and maybe how the top few picks in the draft are doing, now have the opportunity to see who in the heck is Mason Plumlee.

So in essence, Mason Plumlee's exposure to the media and GMs is a good thing and the fact that he was able to show some athleticism and coordination could definitely pique a small bit of interest from an NBA front office who before last night probably didn't even remember him from the draft last year.

Jeff wasn't suggesting that GMs are going to be calling 24x7 now that they've seen Plumlee, but he could very well be a name that some GMs will now keep in the back of their minds as a player to occasionally check up on stats wise.

No one is going crazy over him...they're just going back and saying "Hey, I thought he was a horrible pick and a waste of draft pick, but it turns out that he can actually do something positive off the bench."

You're ripping into him as if someone said that he's on his way to being Dirk or something, which no one is saying. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that his ceiling is as a backup energy big man, which is better than the absolute garbage 'Hassan Adams' level scrub they thought he was.

It would be hilarious if Joe wins this and goes into a massive slump to open to the road trip.

Is anyone else entertained to see more than 3 players in these all-star festivities drafted in the draft we trade for Wallace...

I hope Billy King can properly explain how none of these guys were viewed better than Wallace.

Wow joe with the worst score of the shoot out. Shocker. That's not his game. It should have been mirza not joe.

Unless Melo stays with the knicks, both NY clubs could potentially have no representatives outside the rookie/soph gm

I thought being in a slump meant being unable to play at a player's normal high level.

How can JJ go into a slump if he's already been slumping for 2 years?

It depends on how he recovers but Lopez is probably the only guy who has a chance to make the team or even start.

He could still make it in the starting lineup based off suspensions, injuries, anything.

It would be quite comical yet extremely embarrassing if NYC (which has two teams) would have no representatives.

However, I think that's extremely unlikely.

I'm sure THJr will be invited back for the Rook-Soph game next year.

i suppose, although he would have to make the team, which i think is extremely unlikely ever again. i think his career is pretty much gonna be 25 mph 12-14 pts 4-6 rebs
