Would have preferred Jack but I can understand them turning away because of Jack's contract length. Thornton sucks but he should be a significant upgrade on JET.

Not sure if I should be cheering or not... when has King made a trade that I liked?

(I liked/wanted KG only, no PP or JET)

Is anybody else REALLY nervous there are picks in play here?

From what I've seen of Thornton...he's in the same mold as JR Smith. A make or break guy who can explode and shoot you to a win, or will chuck without conscience and shoot you to a loss.

At the very least though, he's an upgrade over Terry at backup SG.

We need another ball handler in our second unit. Livingston in the starting lineup is working nicely. You have Anderson being pretty consistent at the backup 2/3. You can have Joe or Pierce babysitting the second unit in stretches to go alongside Blatches scoring. Things get derailed when both Livingston and Deron are out and there's no one to set the table for the offense or take care of the ball.

Teague and Terry aren't that guy. Even though Terry and Reggie are basically garbage men now. They're not bad to have around for depth.

Whatever it is we get, I'd prefer consistency over a guy who COULD go off for 20. And if that consistent player isn't available for the right price then stand pat, keep building chemistry.

I am a middle-aged upgrade over the current version of Terry, & that is pretty pathetic. He is AWFUL in every way.

im not really thrilled about this deal. i mean i wont complain because terry is awful and reggie doesnt play anymore.

but thornton, does he really do much for us or fix problems? i dont know that he does. he also makes more then terry next year which removes the slight chance we had at getting under the tax if KG/Pierce didnt return.

Thornton just seems like a guy who will come in, have a few good games, but mostly just chuck on the second unit and not really change much.

id prefer we go after a lock down defender or someone who can run the point

I agree with this all the way. Marcus Thornton gives us a little bit more youth thats it. All he does is shoot, and we have more than enough people who do that already. I'm really disappointed Jarrett Jack isn't getting dealt. Is Jordan Hill still in play? Because if we got Thornton and Hill than I could live with that.

Agreed. Jack & Hill would be awesome for you guys. Would definitely make a push for the 4 seed & I could definitely see you beating anyone but Mia & Ind in the playoffs.

Sorry Terry, love his personality and all but you know you suck when Billy King won't give up cash or picks to get rid of you.

I guess trading one guy on the Espn list of bad contracts for another guy on the list is a wash. Terry and Evans give us nothing so anything is better. Thornton is a scorer when hot. But he has not been hot this season. Maybe he can turn things around with the nets. Who knows.

Thornton has usually been a very solid 3pt shooter throughout his career, but he's been horrible this year. If he regains his stroke, he easily gives us a better player than Terry.

I just like the fact that Kidd's best friend Terry is no longer on the team, so that Kidd doesn't feel obligated to play the guy 15-20 minutes when he's clearly a liability out there. Now, he'll actually play guys that make sense. If Thornton is out there doing Terry things, he'll get yanked (or at least, he should). We could see more of Livingston out there instead. That makes a lot more sense imo. Terry at most should have gotten 8-10 minutes per game, and that's MAX. Usually 4-5 minutes if I'm being honest. The rest of the time we needed a backup SG, we should have given the minutes to Anderson (who infuriates me, but at the end of the day, he's more good than bad), and extended the playing time for Deron, Livingston, and Johnson.

I'm not really a fan of Thornton, but I know that he can shoot, and he's just better than Terry. He's also a better athlete and can give us some speed out there.

I like this we gave up nothing for a Guy with some skills . and athleticism. $7 says he gets motivated being on a real team for once and finds a role

^^ Yeah I think he will play a lot better with us as well. He is a different type of breed in comparison to our really slow style of roster. He potentially can bring a lot in our team. I also don't think he just a shooter. I think he has some slashing ability. He just doesn't get into the line as much.

I'm glad we're getting rid of Terry but Thornton? Meh.

I expect another trade to be made after this too.

Great trade

Can't believe this could be the biggest trade of the deadline.
