LOL What was the point of Teague being traded here? He is total garbage. We wasted two prospects and 1 million in cash for a guy who just got his spot taken by a camp invite.

Teague had the worst PER in the league and couldn't get PT for a team that had no PG.

Everyone knew Teague was trash. The trade was strictly for a roster spot. We had 15 guys - 2 of which weren't getting PT ever. The flexibility was more important than those two "prospects."

To me, trading for Teague was purely making a move for the sake of making a move, except we still somehow came up on the short end of it. Toko and Taylor individually are MUCH better than Teague. Sure, they weren't getting any playing time here, and overall, they weren't necessarily good players themselves...but I gotta believe we could have gotten something better than Teague. How about a 2nd rounder? Or some other piece of trash, end of the bench player that plays PF/C at least?

Hopefully this guy can become what Teague won't be able to. Send Teague to the D-League for the rest of the year and let Gutierrez play in those garbage minutes.

I don't get what people see in Toko and he wasn't a prospect because we weren't going to resign him. The bulls aren't going to resign him either. People actually thought on this board that he would contribute on the Bulls. He's their 15th man playing less than Teague. The dude cannot put the ball on the floor without turning it over, his jumper is broken, he gambles/fouls all the time on D. I'd be surprised if he's still in the NBA next year.

Taylor was released the minute he was traded to the Pelicans. And no NBA team has signed him since. He's in the D League.

Yes, Teague sucks. Yes, it sucks that he will be taking a roster spot next season. Yes, it was a bad trade. But lets not act like either Taylor or Toko are good players or would return anything of value.

I'm just saying I would have rather kept them than trade for Teague. If we really needed the roster spot...then just waive one of them and keep the other.

And if it was possible to have gotten a 2nd rounder back for both of them, I would have gladly done that than trade for Teague.

Except the Teague trade didn't open up any roster spots. It actually makes us lose one for next season, since the bum is under contract through 2015 & Toko was set to become a free agent next summer. The move didn't make any sense no matter how you look at it.

what spot?

DNPs and garbage time?

i love how mirza can be awful for over a month, dwill and johnson can suck for weeks at a time. all 3 are directly responsbile for stretches of bad play and losses, yet its marquis teague getting hated on?!

marquis teague? a guy who never plays.

and seriously GTFO with "we wasted to prospects". taylor and toko arent prospects, they are bums who didnt pan out and and will never be more then 14th/15th men on NBA rosters. this is the same crap we heard about marshon brooks "he is gonna go somewhere else play well and make us look good". yeah right

this is a grass is greener thing. taylor is effing horrible. and its a "spot" on the roster that barely sees time.

The D-league is a good spot for teague. he just needs minutes. he hasnt played a ton of basketball. the kid is 20 years old and isnt very skilled. if he is ever gonna find a nitche in the league its going to be on the defensive end and playing high iq running the offense. he really just needs experience and he wont get that on an NBA roster.

we had 15 guys on the roster prior to the trade and 14 after.

its simple math homie

They created the roster spot by trading Taylor in a separate trade, the Chicago deal did nothing in that regard (like I said, it actually makes us waste one we had available for next season on this bum). They could just have sent Taylor packing and not traded for Teague if all they wanted was to clear a roster spot.

that wouldnt happen. i suppose they could have just cut toko and kept taylor to keep a roster spot.... but i think its clear the team was extremely unhappy with taylor. and management like teague after what he showed in the playoffs last year against us

Yeah, exactly. King traded Toko for Teague with the hope to turn him into a young backup PG and Taylor was never ever this bad. It was a stupid trade.

yes he was. and if it is a downgrade from taylor its:

1) an extremely minimal one

2) at a position that barely plays, and when it does is in garbage time

its insignificant for the kind of heat that teague is getting... the guy either doesnt play or plays in games that are a blowout either way. your 3rd/4th string PG arent going to be good players. good backups arent going to accept a role as a guy who gets DNP-CDs and play in garbage time. which is why udrih wanted off the knicks in the first place. he wouldnt sign here for the same role that doesnt get minutes.

unless you have like a 35-40 year old like a stackhouse situation your not gonna have much more then d-league talent in those 13-15th roster spots

Yeah but the thing is if both Shaun and Deron go down for a week, we have nobody else but Teague at PG. That's a scary thought.

Some players will accept a DNP role. Look at Plumlee for example, he's starting in place of KG after being out of the rotation after his 20/10 game, so it's not impossible at all to find a solid PG with no ego. King just wanted to make a trade for the sake of making it and we got an extremely terrible player making 1.2 million next year. Marshall is better than him, Johnson Odom, Jorge Gutierrez is much better, etc. They all could have been picked up instead.

This kid played well with us during preseason. He is an improvement over teague. Send teague to d league, he just turned 21 maybe he improves with time.
