From what I can tell. It seems that your guys bench is what is killing the momentum for the team. I am not sure but maybe Livingston should come off the bench? Have Anderson start? What do you guys think?

Pierce really needs to look to score more. I don't know what has happened but ever since game 4 against Toronto he seems to be deferring way too much. I know Joe was the guy against Toronto but Pierce can't expect him to dominate every game against Miami. Paul needs to start looking to score more to help out Joe. Cannot have stupid moments like what Blatche did in game 1 and give Miami momentum especially in their homecourt. This team needs to toughen up and start taking it to the basket. Livingston was the only starter that got to the free throw line. Unacceptable. This team better bring the fight to Miami in game 2.

Nets look flat as a whole. Starters did ok, and the bench really lost their composure. Joe Johnson had a tough time getting the ball in the post. They need to run something to get him the ball deeper in the post, set some screens for him off the ball, etc. And the lack of energy for the Nets played right into the Heat's lap. Nets should play game 2 like a do or die game with more energy and a greater sense of purpose. Nets need to be very physical with the Heat to win this series. It's a long series and just getting one on the Heat's home court would be huge.

Miami team is fresh, meanwhile the Nets looked tired and that schedule is bruuuutal. Blatche killed all the momentum though.

This. I cannot stand it when he absurdly decides to over defer on O.

livingston played with the bench, and was the main culprit. they have wade, lebron, or bosh on the floor when they have their bench in. they are going to build leads on us, we just need to minimize it. only way to do that is have one of dwill/jj/pierce on teh floor and our bench bigs have to play well

We need more from pierce. i dont care why he didnt play well, if he doesnt score 15+ a game we have no shot to beat them.
we need more from KG as well. i know he didnt play much, be he cant just be ok, he has to make an impact.
our bench wont give us anything on the road, thats unlikely to happen in the playoffs.
dwill and JJ played well, that needs to happen all series to have a chance
our defense was dog crap.

I believe that we will see a better game from this team in Game 2, and a tighter rotation.
Part of me believes that Kidd mailed it in last night to rest guys since we don't have the luxury of 2-3 days rest between games while the Heat were well rested, because it was inexplicable otherwise as to why Kidd would leave the starters out with the game still in reach. I believe he tanked us on purpose last night, whether or not that pays off with a game 2 victory remains to be seen.
One thing that I want to see is Paul Pierce get into attack mode. Now is the time. Alternate the sets, we cannot rely on Joe all of the time. Get Paul the ball in an area where he can get to the rim. We need to ride both JJ and PP as the primary offensive options.

Your bench is such a streaky bunch. If they hit first shot once they are in the game you can expect good things. If they miss big chances are that they will suck. That is especially true for Anderson, Teletovic and Thornton. Without their constant production you have nothing to counter Heat.

or, we can just shorten the rotation and play Joe/Deron/Pierce a lot

Exactly, we need to shorten the rotation this series imo.

Agreed.
I'm pretty confident that if we lose Game 2, it won't be a 20pt loss. I don't know in what league you don't play 4 of your 5 starters in a playoff game but the only excuse that Kidd had, which was "rest", is no longer relevant.
When we play like we're supposed to play like we did in the first half, I know we can keep the game respectable even if we're losing.

Want to hear some comedic gold?
So after the reserves got destroyed in the first half, Kidd thought that they would actually cut the lead down against the champs?

Here’s how the starters responded when asked about Kidd’s decision:
“Of course we’d love to get back out there. But that was Coach’s decision,” Williams said. “He probably just felt like 20 points is tough to overcome at that point in the game. But as a player you definitely want to be out there.”
“You know, Kidd’s making the decisions,” Pierce said. “We’re sticking with him all the way through. We’re trusting him.”
Added Garnett: “Jason Kidd told me to sub in for Mason. And then he subbed me out. Following directions, dog. Following directions.”

Based on those comments, I'm pretty sure the players have already talked to Kidd about extending their minutes, but he's not having any of it. I think he's stubborn enough that he's ignoring their requests and he's sticking to tight minute rotations.
I definitely think it's killing KG and Pierce inside, you know they couldn't stand the fact that the bench was scrubbing it up and letting the game get completely out of hand while they're sitting on the bench with barely any minutes.

Makes no sense last year KG played 35 minutes a game in the post-season last year. If he was still in Boston he'd be playing at least 30 minutes a game. Really so baffled why KG doesnt play especially since he's such a difference maker

We didn't learn anything from the Toronto series.
We need to do the same things we did at the end of the Toronto series, in this series.
Play KG 25-30 minutes per game. Start Anderson. Don't play Plumlee that much. Don't put out "bench squads." Play Deron, JJ 40 minutes. PP 35+.
The gameplan was nonexistent in the first game, what did he think was going to happen. He has to come up with a realistic gameplan for game 2.

I don't know if I'm spoiled by watching Doc Rivers coach for the last six years but Kidd is making my hair turn gray. How can he mess with something as simple as rotations and minutes allocation? It's mind boggling.
Again, we can compete if starters get proper minutes, hell, we competed yesterday when the starters were playing.. But if Kidd decides to make hockey subs and play the starters low minutes, we're toast.
