Pierce: IDK what is going on

If Pierce decides he wants to play for Doc in LA and we don't have a choice should we do a sign and trade whereas we bring in the Rockets and get our backup PG from HOU in Jeremy Lin?

Lin wants out. Dudley can go to Houston. We grab Lin. Pierce goes to Clips and I would assume we would grab a pick from one of those teams.

J Kiddy

P.S. I hate my name this month b/c Kidd was a douche. But, in the end we got 2 second round picks and a better coach (as of today for sure).

Why would Houston want Dudley?

I'd prefer going more the 3 team route as well. although im not sure the value that dudley/barnes/bullock/crawford would hold around the league.

I would prefer lin to crawford or barnes though. would be great insurance for dwill

I'm assuming the Rockets would be looking for a larger relief than Dudley for Lin, given their grand schemes of bringing in Melo/James.

they may not need more then 2-3 million, and they arent dumping him for pure cap space without giving up a first(maybe multiple) picks.

either way, i think his point was more to get a 3rd team involved and get a piece that makes more sense for our squad then what the clippers would be sending out

Yeah, I agree. Rather see if i can find a third team involved. Not too enamored with the guys that Clips have made available. But problem is, those guys doesn't interest us, chances are they won't interest other teams either.

i think crawford is extremely attractive. great fit for nearly any playoff team. he doesnt make much, expires, is experience, and is as reliable a bench scorer as there is and the reigning 6th man of the year.

between Barnes/Bullock/Crawford thats 10 million of expiring money on useful players. that would be a VERY attractive package for someone trying to dump a guy on say a 2 year 22M deal

Crawford is their most attractive asset thats been rumored for S&T. If he's involved, I don't even mess with a 3 team deal. I just take Crawford.

Terrible idea to trade Pierce. He really made a difference this year. We need him.

Lets not forget he made some of the most important plays last season, like the season saving block.

We're not trading him just because. It's likely because he's decided he wants to join the Clippers, and approached us so that we get something back rather than losing him for nothing (along with him getting more money).

i think its clear we would love to sign him, based on kings quotes and reports. the problem is it appears he prefers LA. in which case its better to get something for him then nothing.

id rather take assets from the clippers then dare pierce to take less money in LA, cause i think he'd take less in LA

You cling to that sentimental stuff all you want, we need more depth and Pierce wants to contend for a title not sit here and get his ass kicked.

Exactly. Let's help the man and get something in return.

KG retiring also would be another plus.

ive given up on KG retiring. there is just no way he gives up that money when he can just sit in a suit for 70 games and cash checks. best case is he accepts a buyout.

either way, i hate him at PF and he takes mintues from plumlee.

I haven't read any reports that he wants to go there. Just that they are pursuing him.

I don't think Pierce would mind coming back here. We can offer him the most money, and I don't think he would wanna have to move to another city so soon after being here and getting used to it.

He's on his last legs. He wants to contend. he came here under the belief that we'd be a legit threat to Miami. He now knows that we are unstable, and we have no room for improvement. Of course he'd welcome a trade to the Clippers.

if we try to move pierce to the clippers straight up, what assets are we even trying to acquire from them? Crawford? Granger?

I'm actually a fan of Reggie Bullock. He didn't get much of an opportunity last year but he's a 6-7 guy who can hit 3 pointers and play defense, I liked him at UNC. Best part is he is still on his rookie deal in summer 2016. Can step in right away and play and has upside.

Brooklyn would also want Matt Barnes over Jared Dudley. Barnes has a team option after the season and will be a serviceable role player for Brooklyn next year.

The 2 combined allow the Clippers to offer Pierce a deal starting at $6.9 million and a 3 year deal for $21.6 million, maybe with $18m guaranteed.

I'm not sure Pierce is the guy the Clippers are talking about when dangling Crawford, I think they are planning to meet with Luol Deng next week.

Pretty sure KG picks up the option and comes back. Too much money to leave on the table, and this is the option that we HAD to pick up if we wanted him to agree to the trade to the Nets. Why would we think he'd suddenly change his mind now?

Best case scenario for us is KG picks it up, plays like a soldier (because he's KG), and if things don't look good later in the season, we trade him to a contender.
