Supposedly KG is going to be with the Nets organization in some capacity after this season.

This is great news as far as Im concerned. KG is a culture changer. He was much more important in the Boston trade then getting Pierce. He might not be the same level player he was for most of his career but he has already instilled his values, work ethic and basketball intelligence on this roster.

Plumlee credits him for showing him how to be a pro. With all of the young guys we are going to have this year (Bogs, Brown, Karasev, Plumlee and Jefferson) his continued presence will go a long way in developing a program like how the Spurs have. It seems like an epidemic around the NBA now of young players running rough shod over their organizations. Players like KG, Sheed, Oakley, Bird and Olajuwon command even the biggest stars respect. Having someone like that associated with the team adds a level of credibility I cant remember the Nets ever having.

For that reason I would say that the trade was worth it.

Yes, I don't see how this is a bad thing having one of the best big men to play the game stick around your team especially one known for his passion for the game like KG.

KAJ and Hakeem work with big men every summer. Ewing's been a top assistant for a little while now. I don't see why anyone would be against KG sticking around after his playing days.

As far as I understand, Ian Eagle has a hunch that it could happen but it didn't sound like he was saying it would definitely occur.

If it happens that will have made the trade worth it, especially if he can continue to help Plumlee...and also Brook and Jefferson.

Plumlee picking up KG's understanding of defense would be INSANE.

I would instantly hire KG as an assistant coach the second he retires, as the coach of the defense...like Thibs in Boston.

KG hinted at the possiblity of it during the playoffs.

Garnett made this clear. He is not pondering retirement, nor has he started to sketch out a role that will allow him to help the young NBA players that want guidance to become stars on the court and solid men off it.

The Russians need to pay him handsomely to retain him as a big man coach.

We need his on court leadership and we don't have depth behind Lopez and Plumlee. Losing him before the season would be devastating honestly. All of the new additions want to play with him.

what leadership? guy displayed little of it last year and is a corpse.

"no depth behind lopez and plumlee" who cares? if you need to go to a 3rd string center for big minutes your screwed anyway. it allows plumlee to play more, which is the mos important thing

Everyone has mentioned that KG has helped them. Plumlee is basically KG's boy. Bogdanovic has said he wants to learn from him. Kerasev has said it. Jack has said he is happy to be teammates with him and Anderson is close with him.

If Garnett is your 3rd string center, how are you screwed? He was one of the best defenders in the league last season. He is still needed here. Come on now.

obviously everyone respects KG. and he can be respected and teaching those guys by being part of the staff and not the roster.

if he is a 3rd string cetenr who racks up DNP-CDs then sure, he provides value. but if he is aking even 1 mpg from plumlee then he is hurting the franchise. and coaches tend to go with win now veterans when they are a playoff calibur team. Holins is going to play KG, and play him alot. Thats why i was thrilled pierce is gone, thats one less guy who would certainly get minutes over the young players

we have .000001% chance to compete for a title. we need desperatly to to play these young kids and play them a ton. we dont have alot of options to get young players, and 99% of the vets wont be here for our rebuild in a year or two. and with durant now looking like a lock to go to washington, we reallly need these youg guys to develop

Disagree. KG mentored Plumlee last year and it showed. That in itself if huge because we need to develop our young players. If KG is here, we lose nothing and gain everything.

having KG aroung will instill his desire and passion to the game..remembered the 07-08 championship season with the celts,KG changed everything..i still think he is MVP not the defensive player of the year

i meant in the bench..just coaching some players...he can help others on both ends of the floor
