Deron Williams Named Player Of The Week (Nov. 3 - Nov. 9)

Post#1 » by Rich Rane » Tue Nov 11, 2014 3:32 am

For all of his struggles since putting on a Nets jersey, thought this deserved its own thread.

NBA.com wrote:The Brooklyn Nets' Deron Williams and the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry on Monday were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Nov. 3, through Sunday, Nov. 9.

Williams led Brooklyn to a 3-1 week that included wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks. He averaged 20.8 points (eighth in the conference) on .569 shooting from the field (seventh in the conference) and added 7.0 assists (tied for fourth in the conference). Williams, who shot .500 or better from the field in each of the Nets' games, tallied 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added six helpers on Nov. 7, during a 110-99 win over the Knicks.

Should be fun watching him go up against Dragic, Curry and Lillard this week.

Good to see he is off to a good start. We havent played anyone but lotto teams thus far, but last year he was getting abused by the reggie jacksons and luke ridnours of the world so its very encouraging that he isnt just holdiong his own but he is winning those matchups like he should.

real test is the next couple weeks

@PHX(Dragic)
@GSW (Curry)
@POR(Lillard)

he needs to hold his own vs those guys. if he gets waxed and we come home 4-5 then alot changes. We've been teased by short stretches of good play from dwill before. i need a bigger sample before i buy into it

We need to win two out of those next three games and he will have to play with aggression and intensity. Curry will destroy us if he doesn't.

I want wins against Portland and Phoenix, and a battle against GS. I don't expect to win that one, but I expect to a fight.

Deron needs to continue to display leadership and attack these PGs. I love the fact that we are starting to post him up as well.

I think Deron putting off the ankle surgery after the 2013 season really screwed us over last year. He ended 2013 playing like his old self again, but that was only because the cortisone shots and the PRP treatments were temporary fixes that were never meant to go beyond that season. He was always supposed to get surgery, but he never did, and as a result, he had the worst season of his career, outside of his rookie season.

I mean, it annoys me a little, because I think current Deron with last year's team definitely makes us a contender, so his idiocy in avoiding the surgery kind of screwed us over.

But if he's really back to his "true" self, I can't complain. The reason I soured on him is because he used to be one of my favorite players to watch, and I thought that player was gone for good. Hopefully, he continues to play the way he's capable of, and as long as he's a Net, I'll always root for him.

And people were getting on me because I complained about him not opting for surgery during the previous offseason lol.
