I just said this in the other thread LOL.
If it's main components are Lopez for Lance, you do it in a heartbeat.
While I want the cap space, I truly fear what this team would become if Lance is the #1 or #2 option. Let him play the Kenyon Martin role of a great role player and crowd favorite. Do not give him the keys to the franchise.

Idk, I guess I could be fooling myself in saying the distractions that lance would bring are overblown....
I think if he's out of Charlotte who has underperformed n go to his hometown with kg, a distributing pg in dwill n another scorer in JJ, I think he'll be much more interested...
Maybe he n George last yr just were at odds.

Keeping deron and JJ and moving Lopez for Lance possibly?? Wow, what an interesting turn of events. Takes pressure off Lance and he can be the glorified role player that he should be. JJ and Deron still run the show, then run big man rotations or Mirza/KG and Jefferson/Plumlee. I like that chemistry a lot more.
I do love Brook, and I thank him for his time here, but getting Lance would be such a great move for the franchise in the long term.

Yes I like this idea a lot.
Deron
Lance
Joe
Mirza
KG
I think that's a very well balanced and solid starting 5. You got shooters to open the floor, which will open driving lanes for Lance. His athleticim would be great in the starting 5 as well. Plus there's good passers in there to find Lance cutting off ball, etc.

Stephenson is an interesting player. He can be a role player but his skillset makes him a gloried #2 option because he can be a Point Forward which is why he was so good with Indiana. George Hill was the scorer, Stephenson was the rebounding defensive minded facilitator and Paul George was the scorer. I'm not sure he has any defined role in the Charlotte starting lineup.

I think CHA was simply looking for any good player to take them to the next level and Cho didn't do his research on Lance.
Even watching him last night, you can tell he doesn't have full handle on the offense even though we're almost 1/3 of the way through the season.
Lance's gift and curse is making something out of nothing, while Charlotte excelled at playing within a system. If you don't have room for erratic play, it's going to destroy what you're used to. I don't think Lance is the sole reason for their implosion, but I think his addition and his style of play is a big reason why they're not clicking.
Now if you bring him over to the Nets, there's no question about pecking order.
JJ is the #1 scoring option within a free flowing offense.
D-Will is the main distributor and the key to ball movement. (Side note: I'd love to see he and Lance exploit mismatches after a 1-2 PnP situations).
Stephenson can come and fill in the gaps both offensively and defensively.
Not only do we desperately need a defensive wing, we need a guy who can attack the basket and draw fouls. Despite JJ's great first quarter, he hasn't shot a free throw in the last two games. If you want to win basketball games in the playoffs, you have to have players that can attack the paint. Lance will do so and can be relentless about him.
I kinda liken Stephenson to a guard dog. Try to make him into a house pet and you'll be a severely disappointed. But let him do his thing and give him a few tasks that he can excel at, he'll get the job done albeit in an unorthodox fashion.

Lance provides the energy and hustle this team needs. Don't know how he will behave in his BKN home though. Either way it's worth the risk.

The underrated part is that it allows dwill to maintain a pass first mindset at pg which he feels comfortable with. He'll do his scoring here n there but he can get his without taking away from JJ n lance....
Now if there was more to this rumor I would want to get this done asap. I've seen what rumors does to our teams over a period of time.

Still, I think the whole how lance could control himself angle is a bit overblown but I could be fooling myself in the end

Not sure if Lance can successfully coexist with Deron and Joe. All 3 players need to handle the ball to be effective. Lance isn't an off the ball player, JJ doesn't seem to enjoy playing off the ball, and Deron can play off ball, but he's a pass first PG.

I don't care who can and can't exist.
Just get rid of Lopez at all costs, if you get lance stephenson i think lionel hollins can deal with him, and even if hes a knucklehead, ill take him over lopez and his injury risks and contract any day of the week. Hornets prolly want him because 1. they got too many wings as is 2. al jefferson prefers playing PF

Big Al and Brook together would be an awful big man duo.

I think both JJ n lance can play off one another without stepping on each other shoes. JJ is passive aggressive lol...
Dwill would still do his thing...
I of course hope lance would share the ball n buy into that idea

Or Lance could be our 6th man off the bench. That works out much better.
Will never understand why people are so hesitant to bring a big name/talented player off the bench for the sake of team fit.
It was obvious to me that Lopez should have been coming off the bench before, and it's obvious to me now that Lance should come off the bench if he plays here. And I felt that Johnson should have come off the bench last year too. Possibly the year before that as well.
And Prokorov, before you mention it, I wanted Deron to start last year, because I thought it was best for the team when he started, not because of his name/contract, lol.

I don't see a world where we take on Lopez and aren't sending out Al. A trade of JJ + Lopez for a core of Lance + Al with other pieces thrown in on both sides would seem to be necessary if we are taking Brook.

I could see a JJ + Lopez trade for Big Al and Lance. Not sure what additional pieces move on both sides because I'm not sure the Nets would want to forgo much more than that trade straight up. Maybe we throw in Karasev (but he's liked by management), possibly Markel Brown.
I'd love to see what a realistic trade is.
As much as I love Joe Jesus, if packaging him with Lopez means we lose Lopez, get Lance and get a defensive big man... I'm all for it
