Pretty crazy. we cant offer him anything but the minimum, but id take him if he'd consider it. we could really use an athletic 4

Do you know how frustrating and bad he must be as a team mate for this to happen? Dont touch this guy!

Wow.... Lol @him...
But watch a contender picks him up....
Mmmm I wonder if Charlotte (not a contender) would....
Or Houston, Portland, Miami, Cleveland, nyk, Indy...

How do you know what team gets first dibs on the waiver wire? Its going to be some scrub team picking him up obviously but I kinda hope that scrub team is Charlotte.

I would take a flier on him or Lance (assuming we can get him for Lopez) NOT both. I would prefer Lance as I think an athletic wing that can defend is a bigger need for this team.

Oh wow.
Doubt we land him. We're the Nets.

Hard to imagine we nearly landed him in a trade back in 2012. Goes to show how much he truly fell off.
I wouldn't mind him taking a chance on him and seeing if he can turn it around here. The Pistons dealt him a bad card by signing him to be a Small Forward.

Kings are interested in him per Stein and makes sense they nearly traded for him this summer and apparently recently. This means they'd have a less of a need for all of Landry, Thompson, Derrick Williams.
Basis for trade:
Derrick Williams
Carl Landry
Darren Collison
Try to get McLemore or Stauskas thrown in there.
Deron/Gay/Smith/Cousins is 4 big name guys in their lineup for the James Dolan of the West Coast.

Kind of surprising. And I think I'm kinda happy that we probably wouldn't have much of a chance to acquire him. He's never really played within himself and maybe, just maybe, Hollins could get more out of him, but I rather not take the chance.

If anyone thought I bitch, moan, yell, rant etc....
You've seen nothing if I see him in a nets jersey chucking 3 pointers...

There's no way he's coming here. And I'm pretty sure most of us wouldn't want him here.
We need to focus on the potential rumored trades with Sacramento and Charlotte.

Bontemps just tweeted we won't be chasing him. I really hope the Kings land him. Think it only helps us

i hope so, a salary dump on dwill would be enormous for us. especially with collison playing just as well as he is

For a vet min contract, you wouldn't want to at least try it?
It's only a $1.1mil. If he doesn't comply with his 2nd team, he probably won't grace another NBA team again so he better behave at his next stop.
What's funny is that I think I may saw what was the last straw with him.
There was one play yesterday towards the end of the game where Smith complained about something.
While on the court, he looked over at SVG's direction and threw his hands up in disgust. At the time I thought "there's no way this guy just did that to his coach, so he must've been frustrated at the play and just happened to be looking in the direction of the coach."
Well, maybe my first thoughts are right.

The whole josh smith, monroe, Drummond pairing was a miscast to begin with...

Did they definitely use the stretch? They can just pay the 13.5m next year & the year after & get it over with right? Or stretch it out to 5.5mil for 5 years or something.
If they're going young, They should just pay it & get it over with. Still got another year of cheap Drummond. Pope & their 1st rounder this year will be cheap. Jennings is an expiring next year. Don't see the need to stretch it out.
Dude -- I'd love for BK to get Smith though. Trade Brook to LAL for Nash & henry (expirings) & a pick. Get some cap relief. Go
Smith - Mirza - jefferson
Plumlee - Garnett - Davies
I'd love that.

Now that I've taken a second to think about it, Smith wouldn't come here.
He and Dwight Howard are best friends.
HOU can offer him the BAE.
He can actually start as a PF on HOU.
There's no way KG is going to tolerate coming off the bench and I'm pretty sure Hollins doesn't want Smith anywhere near this team.

already reported nets arent interested in smith.
I would love the brook for expirings deal. id even do it without the pick. Lopez is a losing player. we have already shown more then once we are a better team without him. 20 points, no rebounds, and bad defense doesnt make for winning basketball from a 7 footer. i like what i see with Plumlee or Jordan on the floor vs. lopez.
if we can do that and then do dwill for collison/landry/thompson i think we can secure that 8 seed.
