Time to look to the future, to what this team might look like in a couple years. After seeing what Karasev has to offer I think he may be a big part of that. He has a high BBIQ, he can run, he can shoot, he has a talent for sneaky plays. His defense has been much better than advertised. At age 21 he is by far our youngest player. Our front office was high on him in the draft but were left with Plumlee after Cleveland took him.

So far he has accepted a limited role, playing off the ball, but he was a first option in Europe at a young age and could become that here if he puts in the work.

Karasev and Plumlee are two solid building blocks for us going forward, the foundation of a young run and gun team. The question is what the other pieces could be and where they might be acquired.

Keep an eye on Terrence Jones in Houston who recently went down with injury. With Josh Smith on the roster, his value to the Rockets is probably greatest in a trade. Jones would be a perfect fit alongside Plumlee, forming a dynamic young frontcourt.

the fact that he is like 20 and starting on a team with a bench of deron williams, bogdanovic, anderson, etc says alot in itself.

He's one of the few bright spots here. His ability to make timely cuts to the rim is the biggest surprise to me. Nobody cuts to the rim on this team except him which Is a sign he fully understands the system and bought into it. He's got a ton of potential here to be a really good player.

I hope Billy King now understands the value of draft picks considering our first rounders are outplaying these "veterans".

I like him a lot more than Bogdanovic who plays at a below D League level on the road, and overall has been struggling after a good start to the season. Plus he's 4 years younger. Karasev and Plumlee are good building blocks, but sucks that we're moving back in the draft this year and will have less of a chance of drafting another good, young asset.

Much more athletic than he looks. Defintitely needs to hit the weights hard in the offseason and increase his overall strength. Not get muscular but stronger. He has no upper body strength. He needs to hit the pullup bar and lat pull downs to hit those shoulders and back.

Like what I see though.

Sergey is a defensive dud. Stuckey abused him yesterday. He might be doing OK offensively but he shouldnt be playing let alone starting. The only reason he is playing is because of how bad our SG position has been. We need a SG in the worst way.

Your bias and favoritism towards certain players is getting comical now. We are not a good team and we should be rewarding the guys who play hard. Sergey plays hard and fits within the flex offense. He earned his way into keeping the starting job. He's 21 and basically a rookie, so obviously he's still learning. 7 points from Stuckey's 20 point night came from Sergey's defense. The reality is Stuckey abused everyone on the floor and he's been abusing the Nets since 2012.

I was at the Nets/Pacers game last night, needless to say not the best night for the team but I was highly impressed by Sergey (I don't watch many Nets games on TV, so this was one of the first times really watching him, plus you get an added sense of the game in person I feel).

He was highly poised, well-positioned and confident at all times. He's a max effort guy too but he doesn't have the size to defend effectively yet.

And here is the middle path regarding his player. Not great, not bad, a young guy plays hard and earns his pay.

I keep him. Just like I keep Plumlee, Jefferson, and the other young guys at the expense of these clowns making 20 mil plus

There is no such thing as 'too young' on a team looking to rebuild after this season. Sergey is averaging 9.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists on 47% shooting and .556 TS% as a starter. He's doing well right now and I'm sure Hollins wouldn't hesitate to pull him if he starts to hit a wall.

I still feel he needs to be developed as a SF rather than at SG.

I heard he came into the season/training camp out of shape - which is a little disappointing. A guy that's limited athletically like he is needs to be 100% dedicated to his body and to hitting the weights. The wing position is no joke in the NBA. A guy like Stuckey is mediocre yet he's athletic/good enough to drop 20 on any given night. Hope he really focuses on that in the off-season now that he sees that he's capable of getting starter minutes.

All he has to do is hit weights and improve his ball handling and finishing at the rim and he could be a Gordon Hayward type. He's so young right now though, I like his potential. Keep playing him !

Yeah, after some though I keep him and develop him. I think he's more of a 3 man than a two.

he is another high IQ player who is a willing passer. he needs to become a deadly 3 point threat and work on D. but he could be a good player for sure

Karasev is a keeper. And I agree with MrDollarBills that he's more of a 3 than a 2...

Whoa. Not bad. The backcourt change along with Plumlee's emergence as a legit 30+ minute player is paying off.

I don't like him going against smaller, faster twos, as evidenced when Wade destroyed him in the Miami game with 10 straight points, but hey that was a teaching moment if anything. Hollins let him stay in there to take that beating. But if he can continue to play hard that Cleveland trade will be one of King's best.

Being a good team defender imo is a priceless ability. That in itself covers up a lot of individual flaws.
