^I assume they realize we'll be picking 28th now that we've gifted the Hawks a lottery pick.

Regarding this game...this will be an ass whipping. Harden will annihilate Karasev.

So now can we finally agree that the Joe Johnson trade was a big overpay? It's not about the talent of the players, it's about the value of what we're sending out. At the time, Johnson was by far the worst contract in the league, we never should have traded draft picks for him. We've probably shipped Atlanta a lottery pick for taking his contract off their hands.

I'm tired of seeing people defend that trade.

Yes, Billy King definitely overpaid in that Hawks deal. He's overpaid in almost every deal he's made

Boston: 3 1sts, plus rights to swap in 2017. Look at what Ainge got for the other pieces in the firesale this season.
Atlanta: like you were alluding to you don't send out assets to receive a negative contract you should receive assets. Like the Kings want to receive Plumlee if they are to take on Deron.

Wallace - the trade shouldn't have been made. Makes no sense, but if for some reason I can't comprehend you make it, protect the pick much more than top 3.

These three teams have greater assets and are in a greater position due to King's ineptitude

Damning interview with Jason Terry, who stops short of calling the Nets a mess.

Oh yeah, Terry is also shooting 40% from three. It'd be nice to have a guy that could do that here.

Have fun reading this.

**** this franchise, seriously. The Nets were better handled back in the 00's than this FARCE we've seen under the Prokhorov regime

the day the Russians sell will be a blessing. Everything they've done has blown up in their faces. EVERY SINGLE MOVE HAS BEEN A DISASTER.

Stop already.

Joe isnt the one who sunk this team. It was DWill.

And we are swapping picks with the Hawks, not giving them one. I dont remember you predicting the Hawks having the best record in the East before the season started. I still think they fall back some and I think the Nets will move up to 5 or 6 by the end of the year so your "lottery pick" whining isnt true. Losing a late teens pick is not even close to equal value for JJ. We can easily trade up to where Atlanta will be picking. You act like we gave them a top 5 pick for christ sake.

Of all the people on the team, Joe has played to his career numbers. He is a 45% FG / 37% 3pt shooting wing who gives you 4 assists and that's exactly what he has done as a Net. He scored more as a Hawk only because he shot more. The guy doesnt get nearly enough credit. We lost the Bulls series because of his foot injury but when he was healthy he won us the Raptors series. He also played at a very high level vs Miami. That doesnt mean much to a lot of you who feel like that wasnt enough but place the blame properly. DWill was paid to be a difference maker and simply wasnt. End of story. PERIOD.

Deron is a culprit for a lot wrong with this team. There's no denying that. Joe is a good player there is also not denying it. But this has to do with two things:
1. Joe has a terrible contract - he is not worth what he is getting paid. In a case with a contract that has negative value a team shouldn't receive anything back and should be the one adding assets. Like the Kings want Plumlee to take Deron. If King called up the Lakers and offered Deron for Lin/Nash he would be hung up upon immediately. Deron is the best player in that hypothetical deal, but since his contract has negative value we would need to attach an asset. They wouldn't attach anything though they're acquiring the best player because his contract sucks. Which leads into point 2

2. Opportunity Cost. What would do with that money. The Lakers could spend that $23 million in cap space much better than by giving it to Deron. The Nets could've used that cap space to add other pieces, etc. It's tough to say exactly because King **** up a lot - giving Wallace 4 years/$40, and then at that point the Hump deal to create a large expiring - wouldnt have likely happened without the Joe trade. But a trade like Joe isn't a trade you should make unless it pushes you to championship contender status as it locks you into a roster, without any financial flexibility to make changes. The situation we are in right now.
