We are half way through the season and SG has been by far the weakest position on the team. Karasev and Bogdanovic have rotated in and out of the starting lineup despite their poor play. Our team lacks athleticism and our so called shooters are failing us.

When does Markel get his shot to show what he can do?

We drafted Markel because he of his maturity and experience. He is almost 2 years older then Karasev. Bogs and Karasev are both SFs IMO and Brown fits more of what the team needs from the SG position. He is a supreme athlete with a 43.5 inch Vertical!!! Check out his highlight reel. If I have to watch the Nets go down in flames at least make it entertaining like Gerald Green did.

Kid needs more time in D League before getting major minutes off the bench here. I like his potential, but with Bogs and karasev it's going to be pretty hard for him.

He is a second rounder, extremely green, and is a player who relieves on physical gifts an athelticism in a league of atheletes were he is undersized.

if had had shown he was even midly ready for minutes either in practice, the dleague, or garbage time he'd be on the floor. if anything, hollins has shown he will play anyone who he thinks can help

Yeah he's been hurt and i dont think he has blown hollins away in practice so it is what it is.

Looks like he's getting his shot vs the Kings.

His athleticism is great but he looks so small on the court. Similar to a Monta Ellis build.

yeah, im not sure he is a SG in the nba... not just short but not much bulk on him... he may need to become a PG to get more burn.

Dunks get the team hyped. An athletic dunker is so underrated on teams. It helps the team bond when they make an exciting play and celebrate together.

Vince had the entire team jumping whenever he drove thru the lane.

Been saying Markel should get minutes.

Jack Brown AA Thad Plumlee athletic lineup.

If only both he and Thad had about 2 inches and 20 pounds more to them..

vince also put up 25/5/5

brown shouldnt play because he gets a dunk once every 110 minutes. if he was gerald green or someone sure. his dunks are limited to turnovers and fast breaks. on the flipside he limits you with his lack of size, ability to defend his position, and inability to consistently hit jumpshots. he doesnt really have a half court game.

he needs to come along way before he gets more then inconsistent low minutes

Brown's first time of extended minutes. He looked good. Love the energy and hustle he brings. You cant tell it gets others going as well especially when CJ and Thad were on the floor with him. There are some concerns, but it is great to see the positives we thought he could bring actually coming to life

THE GOOD:

10 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals. ENERGY! HUSTLE! the guy doesnt quit on plays, he uses every bit of that verticle, he sticks nose in things down in the paint. He outrebounded brook and plumlee. had more blocks then the entire nuggets team. Looked great in the up and down pace that was played.

HE PLAYED 45 MINUTES!

THE BAD:

0-4 from three point range. 4-12 overall with no points outside of 3 feet. he did have 10 points, but in 45 minutes and did not do much if anything on offense in the half court. In a slower pace game, he might struggle a bit, or not have as big an impact as he had tonite. interested to see how he fares against teams with better gaurds. We have Dallas (rondo/harris/ellis) and Houston(Harden/Beverly) up soon which will be much bigger tests for him

Gotta like what we have seen so far. Hopefully he can find a spot to defend on defense, if he can that we can certainly give him consistent minutes

He's got my vote as first SG off of the bench if Lionel decides to put Thad in at the 4.

I'm happy Markel is finally healthy and getting opportunities. He's a solid player and an even better person. He's just a very likable guy. He'll be the fan favorite in Brooklyn if he continues to get playing time. He's electric. Gallagher-Iba would just explode anytime he went up for a dunk. I'm looking forward to see him get a chance in the dunk contest at some point in his career.

He played 4 years at Oklahoma State. His freshman year, all he could really do was jump high and dunk the ball with style. By the time he graduated, he was just about the best player on the court and could do a little of everything. Every single year, he'd come back and be a remarkably better player. I do think he's a better shooter than he's shown so far for you guys but he's a competitor and will continue to improve.

Disagree.

He defends his position well, shut down Gordon last nite, rebounds his position also. He gets lost on screens sometimes but that will come with time. He also is an above avg shot blocker for his size, limited sample size but I like what I see.

I would bring him off the bench behind Bojan if Bojan can hold the starting spot down.

I don't think it's fair to judge Brown's shooting ability just yet. He's only taken 19 3PA's for the season. He can be a good shooter for all we know, we'll just have to wait and see over the next 10 games.

Harden was 1/4 with 3 turnovers when being defended by Markel.

His shooting is god awful right now, but the guy is giving us some solid minutes and some excellent defense and rebounding from the 2.

10ppg 5rpg 2stls 1blk per game. +12 plus/minus with a solid defensive rating since all star break

His shooting worries me but again...this guy needs to play. I don't bench him for Bojan.

Look at the shooting %'s of Markel's last three opponents.

He has earned the starting 2 spot.
