Plumlee wants Lance?

Mason Plumlee isn't whispering in Nets general manager Billy King's ear.

But if he was, he'd endorse a move to bring Brooklyn legend Lance Stephenson to the Nets....

But questions about Stephenson's character and ability to blend into a locker room have followed him since he was a neighborhood prodigy and are rumored to have given the Nets pause about pulling the trigger on a trade with Stephenson last month.

But Plumlee doesn't see much of a risk in bringing Stephenson aboard as the Feb. 19 trade deadline looms.

"I've known Lance since high school," Plumlee said during a break in practice for the Rising Stars Challenge at LIU on Thursday. "I know he's a competitor. He plays hungry and I always respected that about him...."

"It's all speculation, though," Plumlee said to reporters on Thursday at the All-Star practice. "I could go through a lot of guys in the league you would love to play with but he gets brought up because he's a Brooklyn guy. I'm sure the city would love to have him. But he's not helping us right now."

"I respect him as a player," added Plumlee.

Of course he does... plumlee is newer to the team... he isnt part of the williams/lopez culture of not caring, having any pride, or being not being competitive. dude is fresh out of duke under a national championship team with coach K. dude wants to win

plumlee wants to win, wants to compete, wants to play hard. of course he wants dray back and lance here or anyone else who is gonna play hard.

I'm glad Plumlee endorsed specific players mainly because it puts pressure on BK to do something.

This is the first time a player has said I would like these guys on the team.

If Billy does nothing, it definitely shows that they're selling and are only concerned about cutting costs.

Plumlee is throwing subtle shots at JJ and Dwills lazy play and lack of athleticism. He knows this team needs a dog on the wing. Good for him.

I'm glad Plumlee is saying this. We need someone to voice concern over this roster.Billy needs to be listening to his "untouchable" player and provide some more valuable pieces around him, especially the ones he endorses.

Since you don't post here often I presume you haven't taken the time to notice how few posts there have been on this board lately.

Because of the Nets poor play, our already small fanbase is becoming even smaller and fewer people are posting than ever before.

This thread is more about getting people to talk than anything.

If you have nothing constructive to say, don't post.

Because Plumlee has future here and nobody else does. Nobody cares about anyone on this team except Plumlee. He's the only one consistently busting his ass on the court and now he's the only Net to be racking up endorsements.

Deal with it.

Some news regarding Blatche and the trade deadline.

Here's a part of an interview King did with OurBKSocial:
OBKS: Have you given any thought to the Andray Blatche…

BK: Yeah, we’re in discussions about it. We’ve had contact with him and hopefully we’ll make a decision soon.

OBKS: I’m sure your going to be busy the next few days with the trade deadline.

BK: Yeah. The trade deadline is next Thursday so uh, we’ll work the phones. I doubt if we’ll do anything but we’re going to work the phones and if something makes sense we’ll do it.

If I'm interpreting it correctly, it seems like we have the inside track on signing Blatche. IMO, re-signing him is the least that should be done prior to the trade deadline.

I agree, I just posted this in the Trade thread a couple seconds ago, but if we REALLY aren't making trades (which is an awful idea) than at least Signing Blatche can fill one of our major holes and it's someone we are well aware of their ups and downs. He can give us some much needed offense and we can stop playing JJ at the 4.

At least give us this Billy, please.

Don't mind Andres, he's one of the drones from NetsDaily, where they blame Hollins for everything, disparage Mason Plumlee, one of the only players worth a rat's ass on this roster, while singing the praises of Brook Lopez and Deron Williams, two players who are overpaid, give questionable effort, and can't win their starting jobs back from a 2nd year player and a career journeyman. That blog breeds stupidity.

Having to wade through hundreds of braindead, delusional posts and being forced to kiss Bob Windrem's ass in order to not get banned has led Andre towards being ignorant. :noway:

Yeah. That kind of talk from he leads me to believe like Paul Pierce, he has grown tired of Deron Williams and Brook Lopez's culture of loser ball.

You couldnt be more off. I was banned from Netsdaily by Lorenzo (for standing up for a fellow poster he was attacking) a year ago & haven't posted there ever since.

Anyway, you don't need to go there to find examples of what you're accussing them of (stupidity, delusional posts, etc.), Go no further than this very thread, in which you have people saying a frekin role player like Mason Plumlee saying he wants a certain player is gonna put pressure on the GM, or that we have to add pieces around him, among other drivel.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "pressure" to describe what the idea I was trying to get it at.

Any player on any team no matter how significant (or insignificant) saying "Yes, I would like to play with this guy who is not on my team" draws attention to a GM to make a statement. If Mason doesn't say anything, the media doesn't have a story to run with. Mason's words have created a new story out of something which was dying down and heading toward irrelevancy.

I never said it's going to put pressure on Billy such that the end result would lead to a trade. I said (and meant) that he would just be under more pressure in general and the pressure would be caused by him having to answer to the media for something he shouldn't have to speak about.

I know Plumlee doesn't have the pull to force his GM to make a deal. He's not a LBJ or Kobe. He's a 2nd year role player on an underachieving and ridiculously expensive team.

Before assuming people are making outlandish statements, you can ask them to clarify what they mean. Coming on here and saying "LOL at this thread" while largely misunderstanding my reasons for posting this thread is not a good way to bring about constructive conservation.

If we intend to keep these misfits together. The least he can do is add Blatche and use our Trade Exception.

that "role player" is the only guy on this team likely to still be here in 2 years. he is the only player whose opinion should matter.

Where did anyone in this thread say either:

1) plumlee's comments will put pressure on king to trade for lance

2) plumlee is some centerpiece you build around

no one said this. plumlees comments are interesting because he is saying things fans on this board have been saying -- that we need more players that play hard, and that we would be willing to take on lance.

This team as constructed likely misses the playoffs. losing lopez isnt a huge hit, we would be better off with lance and some depth pieces. it seems like someone who is ACTUALLY ON THE TEAM probably agrees with that
